I am surprised the PC brigade have not censored some of the children's programs. The Magic Roundabout with Zebedee telling everyone "It's time for bed" In the Night Garden with Upsy Daisy taking her bed everywhere she goes makes you wonder about her profession. The Pontipines and Wottingers two families of ten that look very similar? Not to mention IgglePiggle's Tiddle? Andy, Teddy and Looby Loo all living in a picnic basket, what was that all about? I am like banjo48 and rarely watch commercial tv and the few programs we do watch regularly we record and skip through the ads. However when I do see the adverts I become more and more bemused and at times really struggle to work out what they are advertising as there often seems no connection between the ad and the product. Car ads really p**s me of when in small print they say something like "foreign vehicle shown, this model not available in Australia" Why show me the bl**dy pictures then?

When I was about 10 or 11 mum and dad bought me a Raleigh Trent Tourist bike for Christmas. Went all over Notts and even as far as Lincoln on it. It had trigger operated Sturmey Archer 3 speed gears ( I think that the latter ones had a twist grip gear change on the handlebars) and a front wheel hub dynamo for the lights. It was a good solid bike and my dad used it for years after I left home, married and bought a car.

I agree benjamin1945, Jimmy Greaves was a goal poacher extraordinaire and it is good to hear that he may be making a public appearance in a few days following continued recovery from his stoke. I still think he mishit the shot but that may have been looking through Garibaldi tinted glasses, but no doubt about the four he scored for Chelsea against the Reds in 60/61? I was too young to be biased then. Nevertheless I wish him well in his recovery.

I must have been on cloud nine as me and some mates walked all the way back to Huntingdon Street, reliving what we had just seen, to get the bus home I remember queing all night along the wall at the back of the Trent End stand to get my ticket for the semi.

Stephen You were not far off. A mate of mine who is a local train and bus "anorak" says that East Midland changed their livery from that shown in #882 to red in 1955. My memories are that the East Midland red was a darker shade than that of Trent buses and very similar to that used by Ribble in Yorkshire

Re Benjamin 1945 #102 Can anyone remember the last time Forest, Stags and County all won on the same day and had the traditional 3pm kick off time? Carni #101, can you remember Forest paying 100,000 quid for Jim Baxter in December 1967. One of the most skilful players ever to wear the famous Garibaldi red shirt.

I'm with Banjo, Somewhere on the western side of the Trent like Bleasby, Fiskerton, Morton, Averham. Would obviously have to be cautious of any flood prone areas. Alternatively some of the beautiful villages further away from the river Gonalston, Thurgaton through to Southwell

Bubblewrap #50 Thanks for posting. So many things in those scenes that we have forgotten and now remembered by way of a jigsaw! Love the one of the coalman taking the sack around the back for the next door neighbours. I did not like that innovation as is did me out of a bob my dad gave me to take the coal round the back to the coal 'us after it had been tipped on the road outside the house.

A particularly evil friend of ours used to buy her brother a jigsaw puzzle every Christmas. Only problem, that all he got was a thousand pieces in plastic bag and no clue as to what the puzzle was about.
