  1. Apparently there are still two Italian companies making Maple rims.
  2. Oooo who's been Googling then?.....
  3. Define a proper Uni Stuart...
  4. I don't think it's vegetation we need to soak up the water Margie, more a need to keep the river, lakes and water table levels up. One of the biggest selling points when I bought my house is the small garden and now even that is hard surfaced. When it was done the contractor explained that the materials used had to comply with building regs and allow water to permeate into the ground below. Even with all the rain we have at the moment I can't see any run off.
  5. Nah, I think it's one 'o them there urban legends innit...
  6. Excellent as ever Compo.
  7. Dust mites are also supposed to be sensitive to ultra sonic sound, there are plug in gizmos that claim to stop them breeding and thus over a few weeks they have all died off.
  8. They are an assemblage puzzle solvers... no idea why, or who makes these things up.
  9. A deep clean of the carpets and soft furnishings coming up?
  10. Ten quid is not significant unless you are on benefits, same with the winter fuel allowance - scrap 'em I say..
  11. Ridiculous! That's just the sort of thing that has people thinking maybe going to private health care is no bad thing.
  12. Had a Rapier and have driven all the others at various times... including the Silver Cross!
  13. That cross was made by a Polish guy who came to the UK as a refugee during the war. My cousin helped to paint the mural on the ceiling..
  14. It's not the treatment it's the time you tell us it takes to get an appointment...
  15. I think the clock shows about quarter past eight or there abouts but if someone said 8:40ish I wouldn't argue.
  16. They get paid it's true, what for is another matter entirely...
  17. Having followed what is turning into a bit of saga I take my hat off to you for your patience. To say I'm not in the least impressed with your doctors is something of an understatement.
  18. I hope all goes well nonna, after all this time you deserve some respite. Edit: oo oo I forgot to say .... TAKE IT EASYYYYYY
  19. The pic is an A70, the smaller version A40 was raced (quite successfully) at Long Eaton by Mr Onion Man. He had a big plastic onion on the roof that lit up. The suspension had virtually no damping and went the track almost bouncing clear of the ground.
  20. Chain drive Scammell Highwayman?
  21. I wouldn't hesitate Col at best you get some relief, at worst they will be ineffective - what's to lose?
  22. To be fair ML there were elements of yuppyism but as RR said it was mainly down south and never really took off here. Yuppy I seem to recall was something like young, urban professionals. Weren't too many of them at Raleigh or Players factories - you didn't miss much..
  23. What about a tiger tail coming out of your fuel cap...
  24. Normally it was the angle the shoes presented to the drum after a degree of wear had taken place and the different leading edge when going backwards, new drums almost never did it. There is also the fact that when reversing the braking effort is usually very light. We had an Atkinson eight wheeled tipper that did it after a brake re-line (rear wheels). It turned out the brake in question had a different brand of lining and I was told it was 'harder' than the Ferodo brand we usually used. Changed it and the noise stopped.
