  1. There is access under the Council House. There's a sub-station down there and loading facilities for the shops. As far as I can remember there is no access other than the lift which the council now control. We played in the big tunnel under Bunny hill. It's bricked up now but back then there were steel doors that hung open. The old Bren Gun carriers that were scattered about and the abundance of Bluebells were a big attraction. A narrow gauge rail line leads into it and we were told it was for the ammunition stored there. Whether that was true of just a tale to frighten us into sta

  5. Seems January is abstinence month all round. Since Jan1st I've not had a cigarette. I am now getting through two packs of chewing gum, disgusting stuff but it helps with the craving and from thirty a day to zero I need all the help I can get. I don't know if I will succeed but I'm trying.
  6. Ah if only all drivers were as good as they think are. Come along, you may well end up teaching us something. I'm sure we're all willing to learn.
  7. Why not go for an assessment, it's free. You may well argue, (I did, quite a lot actually) but there's an equal chance you may learn something even if you don't carry on.
  8. You can't have it both ways PP, two wrongs don't make a right. You are denigrating one mans violent action and praising, even admiring, another.
  9. Even fewer know the proper use or have even heard of a fly sheet..
  10. There you go Ben, now you can sort them all out... http://www.certificate-exchange.co.uk/family-tree-articles/cousins.php
  11. TBI has it right, there are two sides. My neighbour is an avid cyclist and yes I tease him about his gear but he conscientious and never seems to have problems. Then there are the idiots on YT riding two abreast on a single carriage (60mph) road who give the policeman a hard time with 'I know my rights , I know the law, pedals before power' etc. He only stopped them to give a bit of friendly advice but they were screaming police harassment. It's not just the gay Lycra brigade either. Going back a bit Jeremy Vine acted like a total kn..b head in London when he got into a contretemps
  12. You may want to rethink that: quote for a Vauxhall wing mirror..... £600 plus fitting!
  13. Mary, That machine is quite old now and the MS Office software installed on it was a time limited trial. The Libre Office software Margie mentioned is an excellent alternative and is free here: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ Make sure you choose the correct version. There are other office type programs that are free but Libre, in my opinion, is the best of them.
  14. Being over simplistic there shouldn't be any difference. Your house will use X amount of energy to raise the temperature to the desired level. That temperature will gradually bleed away and need to be replaced (that's what all this talk of insulation is about). It will lose energy at a fairly constant rate so the question is do you replace it as it's lost (like trickle charging) and maintain a constant temperature or let it cool and use the same amount of energy but over a shorter time to bring it back up. This is, as I said, over simplifying it but you get the basic idea. Her
  15. What you will get is someone who will buy it for a pound, promise huge investments that will never happen and use it as a way to reduce capital gains liabilities. They stand every chance of never having heard of Notts County with a strong possibility they were not even born in England never mind Nottingham! Will they speak like wot we do me duck? I doubt it. More likely to use phrases like 'going forward,' 'blue sky thinking' and what ever jingoistic claptrap is this months favourite. I'm not a football fan and I think it sad that clubs go to the wall but they are sitting o
  16. I've not seen it nonna but the idea doesn't seem right to me. Smuggling him IN? would it not make more sense to try smuggling him out?

  18. Can only see the last picture, all the others have grey 'no entry' icons - is it just me?
  19. The only elocution lessons I had were a swift clip round ear and told 'don't talk wi yer gob full'...
  20. You can get a replacement if you give them the two halves, costs about £30.
  21. Eee, the things you learn on 'ere. I used GPS as an example of our techno age, I know they don't work underground.
