Chris is a very good friend of mine . I used to work with him at Catchems Corner in Basford(Went to his second wedding (To Margaret) in 90/1) Wembly to see Nott's play and beat Brighton in the play off final of 90, and I carried on going to see them when they moved to the Bull in at Diseworth,. Sadly I lost touch when I went abroad in 95 His Nickname for me was Judas 'cos I kept stitching him up with loads of old stuff that he used to come out with and secretly swapping the next track that he was going to play, when he wasn't looking,(I regularly swapped it for his recording of Magic in Madri

Much in the news is the "decline" in what is collectively called "the High Street". Mike Ashley ( love him or loath him, he knows the contemporary business world), has produced an interesting solution. He suggests that any company that produces more than a certain percentage of its TOTAL profits via online sales, should be compelled to have a high street presence. This is from a tycoon who has made his fortune based on the internet. Should there be a solution or will we allow the market jungle to self regulate ?

Ann, Annie, Amy, Alison and Andrea .....nah...he could find at least 20 for each letter...Alyssa, Abigail, Annabelle, Annette, Anthea, Althea, Audrey, Agnes, Ashley, Agneta, Adelaide, Anita, Aileen, Alicia and Athene? That's only the first 20 minutes at Marsden's on a Monday morning! Still awake? -
I was right ....... a sensible rent reduction by the landlord by the sounds of it. It was supposed to be closing the doors in 10 days time. Mike Ashley has rescued HMV too today.

Back in 1973/4, I used to listen to Radio Nottingham at work on Saturday mornings. John Holmes and Ashley Franklin hosted a programme called Extravaganza, which was about the only place outside of Old Grey Whistle Test where you could hear prog rock. And after the show, a crowd of us used to meet up with Ashley in the back bar of the Bell, with John occasionally dropping in for a pint (or three).

Looks like a case of mistaken identity. Ashley Durose was 'Ashley' who used to post frequently on Nottstalgia until a few years ago.
-
Lost on me @FLY2 who's Ashley Durose? The bloke in the Forest video is Cliftons Ashley White used to work the doors, now owns a few bars in Prague?
-
RR, I'm afraid Ashley Durose sadly passed away during the summer after a long illness.

Whatever happened to @rockinbaz42 @lynmee @sussexred @Ashley Not sure this fellows keen on D***y?

Interesting, fly. I wonder how House of Fraser staff will react to their imminent zero-hours contracts. But give Ashley his due, his proposal contains concern that shopping is changing, and fast. I no longer live in the city but remember Nottingham as a vibrant pleasant place to follow the other half as she delightedly tripped from one store to another. I reason that, as always, market forces will win the day, but this is not a bad thing. The focus will be on personal services ie., nail bars, hairdressers, cafes, barbers, restaurants, jewellers and very high end clothing stores.

Mike Ashley reckons it'll become Notthighams Harrods.

So sorry to hear of Ashley's passing. Very sad. I met him a couple of times, I think, the last time was at Bab's do at The White Hart. Ashley lived at RoT, and used The Manvers. Now reunited with his wife Asabelle Rip Ashley Piggy and Babs are aware, no details of funeral arrangements yet.

Apart from no Ashley Cole or John Terry i think its a good mix of youth and experience, mind you i don"t think they will get far due to the fact we have too many foriegn players in the premiership not even EUROPEANS.

Hi Ashley I'm sure the Bonny Bill we all refer to was Billy Gilbert especially when we talk about blasting past the middle gates at Highfields, with no speed limit he was the best. I remember the other Bonny Bill with big black sideburns,I was glad to inherit his girfriend when they split, Sue Rayson, we were together for ages and I was very upset when she dumped me for some reason.Tony Calladine took Sues best friend out for a while , another Sue with long red hair. Mike Elson married Sue Rayson's brother's ex girlfriend (maybe Linda) I think I introduced them. Cheers Dick

Memories..I too started with a Garelli Monaco scooter, then a BSA A7, eventually buying a new Norton Commando. I used too hang out at the Hart, I rode a 250cc NSU at the time-tearing up the Boulevard. I am still a keen biker at 71, regular in Matlock on my Kawasaki ZZR1400 and also ride my 1990 ZZR1100 (recently restored). We had a bike club in the 60s based at the Ashley Methodist youth club called the 77.
