IAN123. 9,292 Report post Posted November 8, 2018 What ever happened to?... Looking after our armed forces, who have , were and are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice. Fully supporting Gus Hales stand..his ilk should be at the front of the 'Help Queue'. Some Quango's via Children in Need and Red nose Day avail of cash that would be better directed to those who have contributed much more than paypacket stoppages. The news fakers think donning a poppy on TV is enough...broken Britain.

Jill Sparrow 7,538 Report post Posted November 21, 2018 Nowt, as far as I know, Rod. Bought some non-adhesive ones from the post office only a couple of weeks ago.
Cliff Ton 8,175 Report post Posted November 21, 2018 One of the most unpleasant things you can do is lick a stamp without realising it's self-adhesive.

Cliff Ton 8,175 Report post Posted November 26, 2018 Going in the opposite direction to "Whatever happened to..." I've noticed that Eileen H has returned after an absence of some time. Welcome back Eileen, and maybe you can encourage a few others as well.
EileenH 491 Report post Posted November 26, 2018 Hello! Great to be back. I'm enjoying browsing the site to catch up. I've spent the last couple of years with my head stuck in my laptop doing a Master's degree with the Open University. Finished this summer so I'm FREE! Sort of shuffling my feet and looking around at the world and wondering, 'Now what?' The options at the moment are indoor hang gliding or extreme embroidery.
denshaw 2,324 Report post Posted November 26, 2018 Don't try them both at the same time though Eileen, especially at one of our meet ups.

You haven't told us the subject of your degree. Anything useful, or just something you never got round to in your earlier days ?
philmayfield 3,460 Report post Posted November 27, 2018 She wouldn’t admit to media studies! I’m sure it will be a ‘proper’ degree.
EileenH 491 Report post Posted November 27, 2018 Nah! It was Creative Writing - aka making things up and writing them down.
philmayfield 3,460 Report post Posted November 27, 2018 That's excellent. There's money to be made from creative writing. Perhaps we have a potential Man Booker prizewinner? (or should I say Lady Booker?)

Our eldest grandson has just achieved a good degree for 'Creative Writing' at Gloucester (based at Cheltenham). He hasn't looked for a job using his qualification yet - I suggested journalism as that is a LOT of creative writing! However he is working at the Co-op during the day to get a bit of money, also working for Deliveroo some evenings. Great what a university education can get you.....
