philmayfield 6,203
It’s St. Andrew’s day today as well. I’ve just collected a haggis, tattles and neaps and will be takin’ a wee dram tonight. A rehearsal for Burn’s night in the new year!

letsavagoo 964
Yesterday while in Southwell about 10am, I noticed a lad waiting at the bus stop. I kid you not he was wearing shorts, a tee shirt and flip flops. I was freezing in my heavy coat, hat and gloves. I was going to take a photo but it seemed intrusive. He seemed perfectly happy on his phone. I’ll admit to being nesh but it was freezing.
philmayfield 6,203
Even stranger, yesterday in Newark Waitrose I saw a male staff member wearing a kilt. ‘Ah, it’s St. Andrews’s day!’ I said. ‘I don’t think so’ he replied. ‘Well you should know’ I said. ‘I’m not Scottish’ he replied. I shrugged and walked off.
philmayfield 6,203
I’ve just seen an advert in The Times today for a house in Nottingham City priced at £1,000,000. Further investigations shows it’s on Burn’s St. If you know the area you wouldn’t want to pay a million to live round there!!
Cliff Ton 10,488
It's that strange phenomena - a really nice, original house in excellent condition, but in an area populated by all manner of dubious people. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/86664183#/?channel=RES_BUY
philmayfield 6,203
£1,000,000 for a semi! This isn’t Kensington. Potential student flats or a house of ill-repute.
MelissaJKelly 2,124
It is a beautiful house though! Don't think it's quite in our budget mind!
Stuart.C 493
Not the white bit to the right on Burns St, that's the other bit that it's semi with.
LizzieM 9,519
That will be bought by Asians, obviously at a lower price, and they’ll put 3 generations in it.

We went into Nottingham City Centre on a very cold Wednesday night this week and witnessed youngsters dressed in a similar way …… one lad running around in just a pair of short shorts and no top. The town was full of very noisy students, out celebrating the approaching end of term, so raucous that it would have frightened many older citizens of a more feeble disposition. Mind you, it reminded me of my youth, but I did wear a ‘coney fur’ coat over my hot pants! In recent years when we had Wednesday evening meet-ups in town it was normal to see hundreds of students off partying at the clubs. Chulla loved watching them, bless him!
