Beekay 2,767
Will this windfall alter your way of life Brew? Will you give up your job and retire, or continue to work. Ps. Shall I send a begging letter ? If you could see you way clear to send me £3000. I can buy a seat on an inflatable and seek asylum.

West Bridgfordian 76
Lovely day yesterday - Mrs WB's birthday. Steam train from Douglas to Port Erin. Lovely weather so fish and chips on Port Erin front then back on train for a beer (or two) on Douglas Quayside. We're not much into pubs but that just rounded the day off nicely.

PeverilPeril 2,759
Today has started better than the last few and I managed a gentle 6km on the rowing machine with little discomfort. Watched the morning news while rowing and feeling quite concerned for those that still live in Nottingham. There was talk of Liverpool being put on tier 2 and all that it implies with Covid restrictions, however Nottingham has a higher incidence that Liverpool! Glad I live in a village and away from the Cities.

PeverilPeril 2,759
Our day has changed radically since a phone call from friends a couple of hours ago. They have tested positive and we were with them four days ago. We now have to self isolate for 10 days, including the dog. What a bummer!

PeverilPeril 2,759
It goes to show what a hit and miss the test and trace thing is all about. Our friends had no symptoms and only got tested because they were planning a trip to France. If they had not been tested we would all be blissfully going about our business and none the wiser. I don't know how it will affect our village which is very pub orientated. I wonder just how many out there would test positive if mass testing was available?

Thanks for your concerns Pev, everything looked well behaved & sticking to the rules Saturday & Sunday in the pubs of Nottingham city centre, there was no last fling, it wasn’t over busy even with the England match on the big screens, got told off in The Loxley for laughing this morning @ work told we are back to 2 in a van, first time since March, they must know something we don’t? letsavagoo 612
Following on from the posts from Jill and PP. My neighbours son whose in his 40’s noticed a slight loss of taste and subsequently tested positive. Apart from that he had no symptoms whatsoever. His boss and wife both tested positive with no symptoms at all. All now recovered not that there was much to recover from.

Hi Ben, Only residents allowed in and we have to self isolate for 14 days when we get back from visits across. A few key workers have been let in but they have to follow strict guidelines (5 specialist welders were jailed a couple of weeks ago after they went to the supermarket on arrival to get some beers!). Daily life is just the same for everyone else, pretty much the same as before covid, no restrictions apart from the return from holidays/visiting relatives. Must say nothing has changed for us. Maybe we would have had a short break to UK but it will wait. Look after yourself...

nonnaB 4,106
Went to see the dr who is looking at my hand. 56 km from home, brilliant sunshine and lovely scenery on the way. Nearer to the mountains ( the alps) there was a hot air ballon flying which seemed to be heading towards the mountains. The balloon with the background of the mountains made a lovely photo or so I thought . Got my phone ready when trees and buildings got in the way along the road. Eventually when the trees and buildings finally came to an end, the balloon had already landed. Another opportunity lost. But I did feel that I'd had a short holiday.
LizzieM 8,653
Been a bit hectic here for the past week as we’re havIng every single floor in the house re-carpeted with new hard-flooring in some rooms. It had to be done ...... poor old Jack has a lot to answer for ..... but the end is in sight tomorrow. The chaps are doing a fantastic job, would highly recommend them. As light relief from the upset we’ve just been into town for a meal at Piccolinos with our bestest friends who went to Spain on July 10th, got back into England 2 weeks ago and have been holed up in quarantine for 2 whole weeks. They live in an apartment in the Lace Market and been really good and not gone out the door since returning home. Now they (and all of us) have these new restrictions to cope with. As expected, the restaurant was busy but the food and wine was excellent so it was an enjoyable evening. I even had a birthday present from them, 6 weeks late. We’re thinking of buying a patio heater and gazebo for the garden so we can keep seeing other people. One question, will our ‘bubbles’ be policed? The cops have enough on their plates dealing with knife crime at the mo.
letsavagoo 612
Lizzie asks will the Covid regs be policed. Some people we know who are quite well off and run a business went abroad recently and on return had to self isolate. They did for 10 days and went for Covid tests, both negative so went to work. Someone informed the ‘authorities’ and they’ve been hit with heavy fines.
PeverilPeril 2,759
We are in self isolation until next Thursday but plenty to do. We have an interesting garden that needs the Autumn tidy up - pond, shed, greenhouse and chicken coup. Quite a lot of stuff to put on ebay and I'll build a fishing rod. In between all this I'll do an hour a day on the rowing machine while watching the bike racing or snooker. Think I need to self isolate for a couple on months to get everything done!
