Compo 10,328
Love the Micrometer and Vernier calliper Plantfit! I use a modern Vernier that has a built-in LCD display - not as nice as the originals though.
plantfit 7,601
My newer vernier and micrometer are LCD, but my multi meter is still analogue although the voltage and continuity tester are LED,they are somewhere in the shed, not got any idea why I hold on to the old stuff,I have no use for them now Rog

loppylugs 8,429
Haven't seen an AVO for years. Used to be a good instrument.
Compo 10,328
For Loppylugs: My old AVO, currently looking a bit scruffy due to being stored under a swallows nest in the shed. I didn't notice the nest until the other day when I needed the instrument for a small job! 1
Compo 10,328
This one speaks for itself. At 82½p for a return ticket to the coast from Nottingham it would be a real winner today!
loppylugs 8,429
Looks like that AVO has aged well in spite of the Swallows, Compo.

plantfit 7,601
I know you can still get shredded wheat but not in this type of box Rog 1
Merthyr Imp 729
That would be when it was still branded as Welgar Shredded Wheat.

Cliff Ton 10,468
On the subject of Shredded Wheat, by a strange coincidence, someone I know via Facebook posted this today. http://www.whtimes.co.uk/news/youths-seen-climbing-on-roof-of-former-shredded-wheat-building-in-welwyn-garden-city-1-5195779
Merthyr Imp 729
I think it was part of Nabisco from the 1920s, but I remember it being sold as Welgar Shredded Wheat in the 1950s if not the 1960s. http://www.historyworld.co.uk/advert.php?id=896&offset=0&sort=0&l1=Food&l2=Cereals
TBI 2,351
Yes, I'm sure it was Welgar when I was a kid, same era.

Compo 10,328
It was Welgar in about 1965/6. I entered a competition and I recall addressing the envelope to Welgar Shredded Wheat, Nabisco foods Ltd. I remember because I spelt Nabisco incorrectly, writing 'Nabsico' in error. Odd how one recalls things like that.
Brew 5,421
Never thought of 'building' my own battery. Not too sure about the capacity of 2025s but an interesting idea. Pity my Mk8 has gone now, back in the day they were the reference meter.
