Yes at last I admit it I am a long term Lurker, I have been for at least 2years, I lived on Bestwood estate from aged 7 to 19,and like a well dressed man from there I wear a tie, but mine is round me waste , wife not buy me a new one as I might not live long enough to get me monies worth. I learnt a lot of things about Nottingham from this site , many thanks. I also now know what not to do, stand I front so somebody in the food queue for fear of me life, complain about cats for fear of verbal abuse and not to mention my favourite topic cos I get banned. So I try and stick to my favourite city5 points

many thanks for the welcome , I stayed a lurker because after reading all the post over a long period I thought I could not be able to offer much more to the knowledge held on this site, but when there was uncertainty over the NCB xray site I remembered as a 15 year old walking up the tree lined drive asking the others whats an xray. I found out over time if you want to know where a street is that been demolished for years just ask and in a short time some one will supply a map others will tell tales of the street and often or not a photograph will be supplied, I have been mesmerised by the5 points

Margie, like trogg I lurked for a long time mainly because everyone seemed to know each other, also thought that I would have nothing to offer that would interest anyone else. Still not a prolific poster but try to check in at least every couple of days.1 point

Welcome to Nottstalgia, trogg. I look forward to reading your posts and sharing your memories. When I saw that this thread was called 'Confession' I thought it was started by Benjamin1945 who was confessing to still being a virgin well into his 20's.1 point

#655 That would be an awful lot of thumbs, Chulla, even if they all only contributed one each!1 point

Carni and Ben, that song always reminds me of my dad. When I was at school we learnt it in German and I was singing it at home to my dad. "Mein vater war ein wandersmann". He said surely that wasn't the word for 'father' because it sounded a bit rude!1 point

655. Did you just read what Ben said on another thread, Dave? . He's got a clean bill of health! That's great but if he feels like a teenager he'll be out chasing the birds again. Somebody better hide his Liberty bodice. Lol.1 point

I quite often read up on the 'Workhouses' in England, and I try to imagine what life was like for the poor souls who had the misfortune to end up there. I have never yet read one that doesn't leave me cold. Yesterday I was again researching the subject; as Chris, W-ton born and bred had no idea that the hospital that we visit so often was once the site of a WH, part of the building still stands. I got to delving again and added this link for you about Nottingham Workhouses. Whilst researching my family tree, I discovered that some of my ancestors ended up in the WH, for1 point

It's obvious what's causing Benji's thyroid problem - his ties are too tight around his windpipe. Safer than girfriends' thumbs, though.1 point
