  1. I like that. Then I can get one of those electric shopping buggies and drive around all day. Went and bought meself a cemetary plot yesterday. Down here in Ga. My kids will probably have a fit, but I'm not hearing much from them while I'm still in the land of the living. Guess I should drop in and walk up and down on it once in a while. Get a bit of use out of it while I can.

  2. Watch they don't ban us eating a sweet or talking ! Although when madam goes off on one of her monologues, just as the traffic report, or the weather is on, I cringe, grab the wheel tighter, put my foot down and turn the radio up !

  3. I can only presume you are not a smoker. Sweden has not banned smoking in cars. The only ban I'm aware of is where there are children under 18 in the vehicle. As an ex heavy smoker I can tell you from vast experience that smoking and driving is far less of a distraction than listening to the radio so lets ban that. CD players? well drivers may be tempted the change tracks or disks so they'll have to go. Sat Navs? you're having a laugh. The colour red makes you aggressive so ban red cars. We're on this forum because we like a bit of history, a

  4. Cliff Ton.....DJ360.....This is the first time I have been on a site like this. I apologise if my posting etiquette isn't quite right, as I don't really know what I am doing. I came across DJ360's photograph by accident whilst looking for something else. Somewhere in the depths of my brain a candle lit in a far distant corner, an area unused for a while. Think I know where that is. Looking at the photograph, I initially thought I recognised the location. To the right of the signal box there is a straight pale line which I took to be the colliery line. Cliff Ton, this i

  11. Great to see this photo. My grandfather was a POW at this camp. He was on a minesweeper in the North Sea that was destroyed, then passed out in the sea and when he awoke he'd been captured by the British. He stayed on after the war as he'd met my gran who was from Nottingham. She used to take the POWs food packages in Wollaton Park after the war was over before they were repatriated.

  12. The weather ! It's been so hot lately, today is cool and overcast. Tomorrow the festivities start, everyone and his relatives will be here to eat and see concerts. The forecast isn't very good and the 2 nights of the more important concerts it looks like rain. I went to the local market this morning and to park was impossible. There are 2 large squares next to each other almost. One had a fairground with the parafinalia that goes with the construction. The other had a huge marque and the market stalls pushed under into a smaller space. All the streets were packed with cars, the usual overflow

  13. Smoked up until a year ago this week.........could still 'Kill' for one,,,.......anyway apart from smoking being bad for your health.......it was always bad for my clothes ,mainly the 'Crotch' on me trousers,,,used to smoke whilst driving and lost count of the times a ''Spark'' fell on them,,,leaving a bleddy hole there. Been on me bike this morning,,wearing a stylish pair of slim-line tracky bottoms,,stylish apart from the aforementioned hole..........lol.

  14. With the move towards hands free phone use being made illegal for drivers surely it is time that smoking at the wheel is banned. It is in Sweden. My Volvo does not have an ash tray, nor did my Saab before it. My dad used to smoke when driving. When driving at night he would use his lighter to light a cigarette so the big flame came up in front of his face. I used to worry about this. Also some drivers chuck the fag ends out of the window creating danger and litter. If a driver needs nicotine while on a journey, how about patches as an alternative?

  15. 'Performance Art' reminds me of the 60's artisitc 'happenings'. It was stupid then, it's stupid now. It's usually some talentless individual trying to make a name for themselves by doing something outrageous to attract attention. As a form of protest it's non-violent and he manages to publicise whatever he's protesting about but how he managed to organise it without someone noticing and stopping it is hard to fathom. Like the Spanish guy and the fridge I'd fine him AND make him clear it all up
