  2. It is Willow. Pretty much a 360 degree panorama from the top. But also lots of nice country around. Many more people seem to have discovered it since lockdown..which isn't necessarily a good thing. My 'operated knee' is much better, but not quite there yet. The other one continues to deteriorate, limiting how far I can walk before it becomes unpleasant. Still, after a break before Christmas, I'm back into the exercises. I intend to start swimming again from next week, when the kids are back in school. I asked the Heart Failure Nurse about safe weight training and she's arranged for me to

  4. Mr B always puts E5 in the strimmer and generator for this very reason for the allotment and leaves the strimmer as empty as poss over winter. Actually managed to get to the allotment this week, very wet but still loads I can be doing. Thank goodness we’re now “no dig”, thanks to the guru that is Charles Dowding. My garlic is coming up in the polytunnel and am collecting my Charlotte potatoes at the end of the month ready for chitting and then into IKEA blue bags when ready. My camellia at home has lots of flower buds coming on it so slowly (very, so don’t be tempted to go mad sowing!) thin

  5. I use Aspen fuel in my two strokes and that can be left in all year round. It's expensive but chain saws and the like don’t use much fuel. For my four strokes I add Briggs and Stratton fuel stabiliser to the petrol. I been doing this since the advent of E 10 and have experienced no problems. I’m starting to go electric with some kit and have both large and small battery powered chain saws, a strimmer, a lawnmower and drills.

  6. Thankyou sir, always good to get some positive comments from someone who knew these things first hand, the main body was sprayed using my airbrush and the lining was hand painted, I thinned the lining paint right down so it needed three coats for a good covering, one unthinned coat would have looked too thick, The bus has niw been lacquered and wainting for it to dry then I can put it all back together, I am pleased with this one Rog

  8. I remember hanging off the platform, clinging on to the centre handrail while turning the destination blind to either 'City' or the number and terminus, e.g, 30 Broxtowe. All the the while thinking, 'For f#$*s don't let go ! Edit...Well done Rog !! you've done me proud once more. B.

  10. The story so far with the re-branded Leyland, colour paintwork done, linings done and transfers put on, it now requires a couple of coats of clear lacquer to darken the green and put a bit of shine on it, the glazing needs to go in and the seating then all fixing together Another reminder of the full size buses I travelled on as a kid Rog

  11. Hi PP. I'm really sorry, and more than a bit disgusted to read about the pollution incident. I'm also in total agreement with you re: the ultimate cause of these increasingly common incidents, but I'll be picking that up in another thread shortly.

  12. But you would only cover them if you were up to no good or intent on some mischief. Of course, I'm talking about schoolboys or teenagers.

  13. MGO and Trent buses had them as well. What you did if sitting on the front seat upstairs was to put something on the top of it so Mr Driver couldn't see.

  14. Another item of interest I remember was, in the cab of the AEC mk3 there was above the windscreen, a little square tube that was like a reverse periscope, so the driver could keep an eye on activities upstairs. Don't know what it was called but some of us referred to it as a "Seebackascope ".

  15. @IAN FINN, It was ' Corpo' buses that had no spitting, also, above the seat behind the driver was the legend, "Do Not Distract The Driver". I thought the sign read 'No Spittng, No Smoking' underneath.

  16. I was in the local supermarket yesterday and in the same isle was hot cross buns, mince pies and those small Easter eggs. Well I thought I know I am forgetful and sometimes I don't know what day it is, but these here don't what Month it is, or is this a conspiracy between the supermarket and my wife to have me committed.

  17. I remember that NCT buses had 'SPITTING PROHIBITED' and also a sign on the upper deck above the right-hand front window which advised-'DRIVER BELOW DO NOT STAMP FEET'.

  18. Gotta admit though Pianoman, I was one of those guilty miscreants who contributed to the nicotine stain on the upper deck. But it was 60 years ago and I didn't know any better. Didn't stop smoking until about 15 years later. Now I'm an old man and still know bugger all. But I'm happy. B.
