  1. How do you shave water?
  2. Gideon's Way starring John Gregson is being rerun on the TV down here. One hour episodes in black and white of a classic British detective series. It is worth watching just to see the cars of that era once again.

  7. Make the most of your time with your children, Pixie, and enjoy every moment. Before you realise it, they will be grown up and, just like the falcons we watch hatch and fledge every year, they will have left the nest to make their own lives. Then you can sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet for a time until they bring their own young children to visit you (nappies, screams, tantrums) but the best part of that is that they go home again!!! Spoken with the experience of raising two boys and a girl.
  8. I remember when we (parents) owned that site and had the first Shell petrol station, lube and wash bays and lock up garages built. I can remember serving petrol while the builders were still on site putting up the lock up garages Used to enjoy the cheese and onion rolls from the hemlock next door when I was working - delicious! Since my time, this would have to be the third demolition and rebuild?
  9. Ask them....best crackers you will ever taste..
  10. Huntingdon Street used to have a café or two, directly across the street from the bus station. Definitely no buses used as cafes at Huntingdon when we used it in the mid to late 50s.
  11. Even got their own 'feather bed'. Four little terrors in the offing by the looks of them.

  18. 198 thought you were better than that!
  19. I could be wrong about a petrol station as such but do seem to remember a place with the old style pumps of those days. Perhaps we may be lucky and Robbie has a picture from back then?
  20. Just heard the sad news...He was one of the greats...a legend in his own lifetime... R.I.P. Mr King
  21. Catfan..re #122: Remember it way back in the late 50s....Looking at Google, the Harlequin has expanded out of sight. Back then, just a few houses, the café and if I remember right, a petrol station?
