  1. Paul Kreger had a ladies fashion shop on that stretch between Woolworths and Worrall Avenue too. The butchers you recall is probably Rowbottoms, which is still there, next to the Cross Keys. I used to know the daughter, Joy. In fact went on holiday to Majorca with her and a load more people, they were the water-skiing crowd from down Gunthorpe/Hoveringham/Holme Pierrepont. It was the first time I'd flown and I sat next to her on the plane, really excited at the prospect of the flight. Joy was telling me I'd be absolutely fine and not to worry ....... I wasn't worried in the slightest! Soon
  2. There was a fishmonger Compo. I remember the son, he was a blonde lad and drove a BMW ........ can't imagine why I remember him!!
  3. Carni, that's a lovely story, congratulations to them both. She really pushed the boat out with 11 bridesmaids!!!
  4. Do watch old comedy shows if I happen to fall upon them but don't look at the TV guide and to be honest I don't watch a lot of TV ....... .I listen to it but look at Nottstalgia on my iPad screen. My all time favourite is Porridge but it would never be the same without Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale.
  5. Had to go to the Station so missed the last 10 minutes on the telly but had to make do with Radio Nottm commentary. Couldn't believe how many police were down in that area, had to do a detour to get anywhere near the car park as they'd blocked Queens Road off from London Road. Plenty of overtime for the boys in blue because you can't trust those Derby fans!! Pity we couldn't take 3 points but lots of games to go.
  6. Thanks CliffTon, will try that later.
  7. How's that happen? I don't get email notification of a PM !
  8. Few others too Katy! Trouble is I can't get to sleep when I've been on these 'thinking' threads!!
  9. I'm keeping quiet this time! Just tell me where and when and I'll be there, so long as it's not this month.
  10. November is the Birthday month apparently but it would be a shame for Banjo to travel half way across the World and not to meet any of his 'cyber friends'
  11. It'd be nice to arrange something early October when Banjo is over from Oz. Don't ask me to organise it, the last one stretched me too much! I agree with Malcolm though, Jos Else was pretty grim.
  12. Well St Augustine's Catholic Church is still there on Woodborough Road Carni and I think it's at the corner of Westville Gardens (?). Probably wasn't called that in those days though. It's opposite Cranmer Street.
  13. That's it ....... I want a metal detector for Christmas!!
  14. I bet you don't load it properly though Colly ........ not many men do!
  15. Welcome to Nottstalgia humdinger! That is an impressive wall, it will be interesting to find out more information and I'm sure someone will know more.
  16. In the late 60's I went to a couple of events on that field Smiffy but don't remember seeing you having a wee wee I went to a couple of big BBQs organised by Notts Casuals Rugby Club and don't remember whether there was a live band or just a disco.
  17. Too much outside maintenance for us Mick!
  18. That's reminded me that in 1967 I went for an interview at the Electricity Council in Nottingham. I didn't get the job and I can't even remember where they were in town, well maybe they were somewhere near the Ice Stadium? What would they have done? The Electricity Board on Carrington Street ((later to become EMEB and based in Arnold) was not the same organisation.
  19. Mmmm ....... don't think I'll be adding LED lights to my Dad's grave at Wilford Hill !
  20. Yes it did! We were waiting at the traffic lights at the top of Westdale Lane, to go down there to see it, and it came right over us. Still, at least we saw it, even if we were sitting in the car!
  21. Don't knock Facebook Fynger, not that long ago you won a competition at The Fabric Place by getting your friends to vote for you on FB. I voted for you!
  22. Chulla, 22 has GOT to be one of your Lotto numbers now!
  23. It looks lovely PP, idyllic, but too much grounds maintenance for the majority of us ode Nottstalgians, Good luck, hope you manage to sell it quickly.
  24. Chulla, you posted at 8.55 according to my iPad, Basfordred at 8.58.
  25. I have two letters written by Albert Ball and sent to my Great-Aunt in WW1. They were friends growing up in Lenton. In one he says that he's sorry he hasn't written for a while but he's 'been busy' ....... you're not kidding he was BUSY !!
