  1. Obviously 'Gray Goose' in Gedling. Live bands, dancing all-night and making one Gin and Orange last all night. Also 'Bodega' with a few work mates. There were quite a few we would never go in, can't remember name's.
  2. You are right Lizzie I wouldnt let my dog out of sight now never mind a child.
  3. I used to shop there when I was a young mum, I would walk there with baby in the pram park it outside and do my shopping. The rooms above were known then as 'Turners Banqueting Suite'. Graham Marshall did take it over. It would be about the time Benjamin used to go to grab a granny night. LOL
  4. In summer I go out at the crack of dawn after we have had rain with a carrier bag and a litter picker. I pick up as many as I can find put them in the bag and in to the dustbin, I leave the bag open so they can get out if they get on to the inside of the dustbin lid I bang it and they fall back down. I like to think they go to land fill and live happy ever after.
  5. I don't think we can ever beat slugs Compo that's why I never sow seeds directly into the ground. I know if they come up when I'm not looking the b....ers will get them.
  6. It's good to experiment in the garden you can scatter some around, also fill seed trays and put them inside plastic bags, and yes they do form a tuber.
  7. Yes mick, plant in small pots cover with a plastic bag put them in a greenhouse or windowsill. Early spring is the best time.
  8. I'm going to try and pop in there on Monday carni it would be nice to see Roy Skellington again. I should say 'Mr Skellington' we were never aloud to call an adult by their first name when we were children. I wonder if he would remember our family names carni.
  9. OK carni it was TADDY something to do with TADDY ALES, I know silly isn't it. I remember we embroidered the name on the back of the baggy jumpers we wore with the tight jeans. We would sew the jeans on our legs to get them as tight as possible.
  10. Yes the Doctors Surgery was no. 33, my dad always said you need to get down to no. 33 if we were feeling unwell. He never said 'The Doctors' I don't know why.

  17. you were with me in my thoughts carni. The tree has probably blown down in this gale anyway.
  18. Went to the Gedling Christmas Tree light's turn on yesterday couldn't get you a photo carni it was tipping it down. I must say though it is bigger and better than last year. The highlight for me was going into the Memorial hall for mince pies and a cuppa, you might think boring but for me it was a huge blast from the past as this was our youth club when I was about 13. It even smelt the same. Us gals would make a bee line for the ladies with our stashed makeup, black eyeliner spit on mascara and lippy then out into the hall to be admired. SO COOL
  19. #20 I think you might be right Michael.
  20. David my parents lived in Burton Joyce for some years befor they moved to Gedling Village where I was born. The name Hutchinson rings a bell but I think that would be from my parents or my older siblings. As carni says we where to cool to have anything to do with the younger one's at school. Ha Ha .
  21. It's a place in Canada carni, as in the Klondyke Gold Rush.
  22. I don't think anything can compare to our childhood memories.
