  3. That and e-mail source tracing to find the IP
  4. ooI've just had an e-mail telling me the bank has declined the direct debit for my TV licence. It's a scam but I have to say it's one of the best I've seen. Tracing it back , it bounces all round the world and originates in Uttar Pradesh India. Most of us are aware a 'you are due a refund' mail is a scam but this is a new approach and very believable.
  5. Having stopped for six years and foolishly started again I think smokers will always be smokers. After smoking a couple of cigarettes it was as if I had never stopped and although stopping was easy the first time around it's not now. I tried vaping but where is the logic in that? You are still taking nicotine into your system so it does nothing other than swap one bad habit for another albeit slightly less harmful as far as we know. I wish you success SG.
  6. The possessive apostrophe is correct Margie... If your lad has gained an MA or MSc then well done to him RR, it 'aint easy..
  7. Supporter of the IRA, refers to Hamas and Hezbollah as 'our friends' probable anti-Semitic, yeah quite right, what's not to like about him...
  8. The simple truth is they don't. The same goes for the so called 'reality' shows, they're scripted. I once took part in a 'Look North' item for the BBC. Eight hours to film maybe forty seconds of screen time and that included the stock footage they used in the credits.
  9. I didn't see him but have heard others comment on Corbyns choice of attire and they agree with you Ozt, my other half being quite incensed. Some said that at least he turned up but there were those that said it was hypocritical.
  10. A bit like the first time I went to Turkey. Changed some pounds to Lire and instantly became a multi-millionaire! Nonna that's a picture of a dog who knows you too well. Gives you those big eyes, a little tail wag and all is forgiven...
  11. Brilliant Albert, loved the visual jokes, I might drop in to see that when I go over next year...
  12. I remember one the rides in the Pleasure Park. It was an aeroplane roundabout where the aeroplanes had real propellers to make it run. Looking back it's a wonder no-one was decapitated as there were no guards round them. The fence that kept you from falling in the Trent was mostly broken and woe betide you if you got too close. Punishment was usually a swift clip round the ear and no ice cream. Next to the park was a row boat ferry. For the princely sum of two pennies he would row you across to the opposite bank. why I have no idea there was, and still is, as far as I know nothing there.
  13. Just looking that picture of Carlton Road makes wonder about the work involved laying all those cobblestones. The sheer number must mean that somewhere there was fairly major industry producing them. All the cobbles I've seen didn't look as though they were machine cut, how were they made and where were the granite quarries?
  14. Probably not cause I wuz teached to say eara not error. Seems that nice Mr Google agrees wi me anall
  15. And I was going to sell tickets!
  16. They did that at the side of St Stephens Sneinton.Where else would light a bonfire but in the middle of the road? Fire Brigade took a dim view of it but it was just as exciting to us young 'uns watching them put it out.
  17. A well known BMW dealer sold a friend of mine a new 735i. He noticed the mileage was not recording and took it in to be looked at. The mechanic came out to the car lifted the rear seat and switched something. Apparently the car had been used as a demonstrator and they had turned the odometer off somehow to stop it clocking the miles. They were quite open about it too as though it was common practice.
  18. Radio 4 and 4Extra plus Classic when in the mood and only in the car. Never have music on in the house. I used to find the Peak district a bit hit n miss, not been for awhile though...
  19. In our street there were marbles n dobbers, dobbers were the big uns woth two little uns. Often called twoers
  20. Took so long clicking off the cookies I got bored....
  21. I've been to the iMAX at Bradford and the effect is spectacular if a little confusing. The films are short demonstration pieces, one being an aerial view flying across the landscape and then over the edge of the Grand Canyon. The view is unusual in that you appear to be looking straight down, laying on your stomach, but going over the edge literally takes your breath away.
  22. I wouldn't say it was weak, I think they tried for a 'cliff hanger'.
  23. Yer wot? izzat like wot they talked in olden days? Yer no warra mean, it's stuff like wot wrinklies do innit , it's wicked sick man. Not nobody can do that s**t with their homies n ho's nahdays.
  24. I 'binge watched' Killing Eve. I won't tell you what happens in the last episode but it seems a curious way to end an excellent little series. Hopefully there will be a series 2. Whilst on the subject I found those Danish programmes with sub-titles the Beeb seem so fond of just lately are available in English. Probably cost the Beeb more to licence though
