Brew 5,421
Perhaps it's a good job they did Lizzie. Technically it's an offence to make facsimiles of banknotes! 1

jonab 1,644
Is there a new version of the £50 banknote or have they all been discontinued? I have a few of that style tucked away somewhere. I must look them out.
radfordred 6,284
I withdrawn £200 out a speedbank in Leicester Square a few weeks ago it gave me 4 x £50 notes, thought I'd have trouble getting rid of them? Pubs never battered an eyelid. Nottingham no chance!

Compo 10,328
With things so readily available in shops these days, one does not often see things built from scratch. For some time I have been hanging a hand towel on a hook at the back of the toilet door. I finally decided that it was time to have a proper towel rail by the sink so I set about searching my sheds for suitable building materials. I chanced upon a pair of window openers and a length of 15mm copper waterpipe. The pipe needed grinding down a little at the ends to make it a tight fit into the finger holes in each window opener; I then used a pipe flaring tool to splay out the ends to secure them. the openers were adjusted to be at the right distance from the wall and screwed in - hey presto! a new towel rail built from odds and ends for free - which is nice
jonab 1,644
Attach the copper pipe to the central heating and you have a heated towel rail!

loppylugs 8,429
Haven't seen one in years, Compo. Don't know if they ever had them over here. Used to service them in the UK. In many ways ahead of their time. They were solidly built. Used a mechanical program switch to control the cycles. All of that could probably be done by one little circuit board today.
