catfan 14,799
Remember the bloke who promised £100 to charity if the trams could run trouble free for 5 consecutive days ? Seems he can't give the money away, he's extended the deadline ! https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/local-news/man-who-pledged-100-charity-1405962
philmayfield 6,312
I think you’ve got it in for the trams. They always look very nice when I see one passing by.
philmayfield 6,312
I’m thinking of getting a tramspotter’s book and an anorak. I’ve already got General Booth, Torville and Dean and Dennis McCarthey. Where’s the best place to sit and watch them?

radfordred 6,284
Ooooops! the trams smashed into a lorry on Fletcher gate!
catfan 14,799
The tram driver couldn't go around the wagon ! Why ?
philmayfield 6,312
I bet he momentarily swerved to avoid the truck and then suddenly realised the steering wheel was missing!
Bubblewrap 3,815
Another accident NOT of the trams making

Deepdene Boy 642
If you are driving you should know never to leave your vehicle overhanging rail tracks (of any sort). It ain't bleddy rocket science.
Brew 5,494
I would say it's fairly obvious when driving a tram not to proceed when there's a bloody great truck in the way - it aint rocket science
The Pianoman 1,546
Perhaps the lorry rolled back as the tram was approaching. None of us know what happened so stop guessing.
Brew 5,494
Looking at the picture and the position of the pair of them. The last thing I would guess at is the truck rolling back. The debris on the floor seems to indicate either the tram or the truck were moving forward. The trucks on a bend so 'tail swing' could have clipped the tram, maybe tram driver had the sun in his eyes (the sun shield is down) and braked too late who knows? It's quite possible both drivers are at fault.
NewBasfordlad 3,599
looking at the damage at the front and then running toward to rear I would lay money on the tram driver. And Bubblewrap is right can't be the tram it won't move without a driver.
catfan 14,799
I see Nottm City Council have approves a £200k feasibility study to extend the tram. Peanuts compared to the £Ms wasted on the tram already, too many breakdowns for one thing. https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/nottingham-news/new-tram-extension-clifton-could-1782529
radfordred 6,284
Blinking hector tram not running from 23/8 to 2/9 got to replace the tracks.
radfordred 6,284
Can I have my workplace parking levy back? Can I have that good job I once had? Lost to the tram
Oztalgian 3,412
Why don't they use trams without tracks or wires that are guided by sensors embedded in the roadway. This has capability or reducing the infrastructure cost by a factor of 25 times and much less disruption. The trams use batteries for power and are silent running. Where is this being done, you guessed it, China
philmayfield 6,312
What a good idea. Let the Council admit their mistake, dig up the roads and start again. Or could they just swap the trams for buses - after all they do run on the same roads most of the time.
