  1. That might be the answer BK but to be honest I can’t really be bothered! I have no photos I want to share anymore - nothing anyone else would be interested in anyway. I read all the posts on NS (except the word games) but rarely post anything as I feel I’ve exhausted all my memories - at least all those that I would want to share!!! And I don’t want to keep endlessly repeating things…… I am very content with my life and will continue to enjoy reading all the threads (even though I don’t necessarily agree with - or relate to -everything I read….. ). But that’s just the same

  8. 1952 I believe with the Vanguard engine. It’s the petrol/paraffin version with two fuel tanks. The idea is to start on petrol and run on the cheaper paraffin or TVO as it’s called. Tractor Vapourising Oil is basically paraffin with a few added ingredients. I used to bring it out and put it in the meadow when we had the village open gardens but lockdown put a stop to that and nobody has had the gumption to revive it. I think I’ll tidy it up and sell it. I’ve got another in the back orchard, a 1964 Ford Dexter 2000, which could do with a lick of paint. I’ll see if I’ve got a picture of that some

  9. When people say a newspaper is 'biased' what they're often actually saying is that the newspaper expresses opinions which they don't agree with. Likewise a 'good' newspaper is one which reinforces their existing views.

  10. Still battling with a small Bathroom refurb. If it could go wrong..it has.. and I'm not talking about my own failings for a change.. but faulty products etc... problems ordering stuff and so on.. So anyway.. I'm as certain as I can be that I have prepped the floor for the fitting of 'click vinyl'. That involved lots of sanding and even some planing of old original floorboards plus putting in some new sections. Next will be to put down hardboard lining. Who knew hardboard is supposed to be 'conditioned' for 48 hours by wetting it? Apparently it expands, then shrinks after fitting to prev

  11. That reminds me of the joke A young woman in Liverpool was so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the Mersey. She went down to the docks and was about to leap into the freezing water when a handsome young sailor saw her tottering on the edge of the pier, crying. He took pity on her and said, "Look, you have so much to live for - I'm off to America in the morning and if you like I can stow you away on my ship and will take good care of you and bring you food every day." Moving closer, he slipped his arm round her shoulder - "I'll keep you happy and you'

  19. What a wet morning, brightened up a bit now, well I've been reading through the pages of the local (to me) web site, someone complaining about kids down the next village shouting and carrying on, I replied "Sooner hear that than be deaf) well talk about opening the floodgates of abusive answers I received, what is it with people who only see bad in young people and are hell bent on condemning their every action, comments from "bad parenting" to "feral kids", well they got a few proper Nottingham answers from me and it seems to have made the problem worse, you got to laugh aint you

  20. I am sure you will see many. It is approaching whale season here when the female Southern Right whales journey up from antarctica to give birth to their young. They often come as close to shore as 50 metres and they truly are an awe-inspiring sight, especially when breaching, tail slapping or just waving their fins about. You get a real sense of the size of these leviathans of the sea. The original whalers who founded our township said that they were the Right whale to hunt as they yielded a good supply of whale oil, our states first export commodity. The whale watchers give each one

  25. Read the report fully and it turns out that the vote for an overarching authority of governance and a single mayor did NOT gain a majority.. The vote was 43% for - 45% against, something they chose to ignore. The hierarchy will be: East Midlands Combined County Authority - 1 The city councils - 2 The county councils - 2 The district/borough councils - 15 The town councils - 351 The parish councils... ?? There will soon be more chiefs than indians. It was mentioned as Stuart says on Pages 110 and 125. My

On May 2nd its the day you vote now we have had leaflets come though our door which say Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire councils are to join forces, they say that the region will be given powers it has not had before with control over a level of funding that will enable long term improvement in the performance of the regional economy of the regional of the prosperity of its people.
