  1. Which one are you buying then Benjamin? Skeggy pier was always a wondrous exotic place to me when a kid, but that was probably because we didn't get out much!
  2. No Dave, it was a British film, took place in the East End about a kid who acquired a Kid goat and was convinced it was a Unicorn. ( or summat like that!)
  3. As a kid, most things with Jack Hawkins in such as The Malta Story, Bridge on The River Kwai, Gideons Day etc. Another which sticks in my memory, but not with Jack Hawkins, Kid For Two Farthings with David Kossoff, I can still play the theme song in my head!

  6. The Portland in Sutton in Ashfield had those double seats, the back two rows in the stalls and was the only cinema I knew that had them, and were there at least up to the late 60`s. They were of course to assist with the sort of behaviour obviously well known to Carni!
  7. I bet I'm not the only one that still has cuff links, a gold watch and chain and a wardrobe full of TIES eh Paul?
  8. Seems that folk are much more interested in the Jezzagate story than whether or not someone takes part in an election debate!
  9. Cheers David, I'll have to get some better specs!
  10. Dr Lavender`s housekeeper seemed somewhat formidable being able to hold a two gallon beer glass, I reckon even Catfan would struggle with that! Anyone know what a trass maker produced?

  14. Tony #6,the Normandy was on Heathcote St near the bottom and we enjoyed going in there as a treat for lunch occasionally when Mrs C worked in an office at the top end of the street.
  15. Fantastic site Mick, thanks so much for finding this and posting for us. There are so many shops which I had completely forgotten about and which have awakened so many memories for me. Thanks again mate! To give you a "like" for this is such an understatement, how about a "just love it" ?!!
  16. Started working in 1963 in Vernon House next door to Tobys and regularly used to pop in to buy a Terrys Waifa to have with my morning coffee. An Aunt bought a cut glass fruit set from there for a wedding present and we have just the large bowl left 47 years later. Welcome to the Forum Doreen.
  17. Great pics Firbeck, many thanks for posting these. I had no idea of the existence of quite a few of them.

  20. Oh Dear, always been quite proud of my driving skills and deplore the demise of the 3 C`s I've always adhered to, but I've been driving Volvos for years now and didn't realise I was such a liability!
  21. Katy, re #91, that's just how we feel after we lost our spaniel, Prudy, way back in 1996, and like you take every chance we get to fuss other folks dogs, sometimes takes ages to walk a mile or two if we are lucky enough to hit a good dog day on a dog friendly beach!
  22. Can we hope that the last 3 games show that they've rediscovered the knack of scoring goals again we even though yesterday's result suggests a slightly shaky defence?
