    Why?

Why are fridges sold that have a compartment to store eggs in that has 10 holes when eggs are sold in dozens?
  2. Are we talking Alan "Noddy" Hinton here or is there another Noddy? He of the white boots and powerful shot
  3. I'm with RR we have tried yesterday's heroes in the past without much success, Frank Clark and Stuart Pearce. I liked O'Neill as a player and for the sake of the long suffering fans I hope he does well. There is something fundamentally wrong at the City Ground, does anyone on here know what it is?
  4. Yes I certainly did, bought my hiking boots there and they served me well over many years, stitched welts and commando soles, only ever used saddle soap on them. My most important purchase was a WWII gas mask bag, just the right size for my Tupperware sandwich box and a Thermos flask that I used throughout my apprenticeship.
  5. So Awesome Krackanacker has gone Here we go again, what is wrong at this club?
  6. Home Brewery beers, nectar of the Gods. Did you know that Holes Newark Brewery did a Luncheon ale too?
  7. I wonder if the branding had anything to do with the Cavendish family the Duke of Devonshire and Chatsworth House, At one time Hardwick Hall, not that far away, was also an ancestral seat.
  8. Sure do Ian, Mansfield Shoe Company founded in 1867 and the Devonshire brand was introduced in 1907. As an apprentice passed this magnificent building every day on the bus on my way to work. Alas, along with the hosiery and knitware industry, long gone. A friend told me that the Pretty Polly site on Unwin Rd in Sutton in Ashfield is destined to become a supermarket
  9. Ray Sawyer, he of the eye patch and battered straw hat covered in badges, from Doctor Hook and the Medicine Show has died aged 81 His gravelly voice on their classic The Cover Of The Rolling Stone will live long in my memory. RIP Ray.
  10. Talking of female musicians I see that Honey Lantree the drummer of the Honeycombs has died aged 75 Remember "Have I the Right" and that ponding drum backing I seem to remember that the Applejacks (Brum Beat band) had a female bass player too and Tell Me When from the same year 1964. What in the hell happened to all those years, I remember these songs like they were yesterday!
  11. Not a single female in sight, very different from today's orchestras. Did you see the trumpet player 57 seconds in, dead ringer for James May of Top Gear.
  12. Drops of oil under the car usually leaking from a rocker cover gasket, sump gasket or a rear main seal
  13. Yes, still on Chesterfield Road South just before it changes to Chesterfield Rd North at Debdale Lane and Abbot Rd I think it is a Marston's house now
  14. Bought most of my vinyl from Sid Booths on Queen Street in Mansfield opposite the CO-OP Yes they did have a shop in Sutton at the Idlewels shopping centre They also had a shop in that abomination that destroyed so much of Mansfield's history, the Four Seasons shopping centre. 15. Sorry Ian, no input on cycling from me at all, good shot of the "Landers Bridge" on Woodhouse Road, the Black Bull was opposite
  16. Its going to be a 35 degree day today, sitting by the pool, with a G&T listening to the Boxing day test from the MCG. Stuff does not get muchbetter than this
  17. If I remember correctly Little Chef were mainly on the "A" trunk roads and were a great place for a good value meal unlike the Motorway Service areas Blue Boar and Kennings etc. School dinners, "How would you like your mash, one lump or two?" and your gravy, "lumps or slices"
  18. A very Happy and Safe Christmas and New Year to all
  19. Watching the National News on our ABC this morning when they covered a story on the Sausage Roll Song by LadBaby sung by a bloke in a Santa hat that said Forest on the headband. West Bridgford born Mark Hoyle. The Song is now No1 in the UK and supports a great cause. I wonder how long before Greggs use it in their adverts. Day slightly spoiled by the Reds losing 1-0 to Dark Strangers at the City Ground
  20. Don't forget that well known Australian female fast bowler ….. Lillian Thompson
  21. A song about sick, (a little bit rude) Memories of Blackpool or Skegvegas
  22. Same scam being perpetrated down under too. A few people have been fleeced of thousands after foolishly giving these a**eholes their banking details and passwords or have inadvertently down loaded spy software or crypto lockers. We had several in one day but as we let nearly all landline calls go to voice mail no problems. I was passing the phone once when it rang, picked it up and it was one of these calls, a few choice Anglo Saxon phrases seemed to have fixed the issue as none since.
  23. I do hope so as if they do get relegated it may result in the demise of this great club. However the Stags did return from National league obscurity. Although a Forest fan if I were there I would be at Meadow Lane cheering them on and urge all true football fans in Notts to do the same
  24. As kids I wonder how many of us had our photos taken with Santa at the CO-OP
  25. I used to love the local CO-OP, the smell of the bacon on the slicer, the cheese cut with a wire and my mum nearly always used the divi to buy our school uniforms
