MargieH 7,603
Pleased we're not the only ones to have had our honeymoon in Skeg! It was very cold when we got married on 26 March 1966 so we didn't get out and about much while we were there, but probably wouldn't have anyway!!

MargieH 7,603
We took two of our cats with us in our touring caravan once when we went to Wales. The travelled in the car in cat baskets but one of hem obviously didn't like it and had diarrhoea. He was long haired too, and we had to sluice him off under the tap when we arrived! The other one got out in the evening and got 'lost' for about an hour. Finally got her back, though.
TBI 2,351
Glad to hear quite a few had a nice honeymoon in Skeggie. When we got married, we didn't have a pot to pi$$ in so we had a weekend in Eastwood.

carni 10,094
We had a weeks honeymoon in Skeggy in june 1967 in an Aunts caravan as a wedding present. The wedding was Boxing day 1966, but it was to cold to go away then, so we waited till June. That's my story and I'm sticking to it?? We didn't have the sense or the money to buy Sun Lotion, and got so burnt at the open air swimming pool on the first day, that we had to sleep in different beds for most of the week! Sorry I just realised we have strayed off Our Pets. Doh

catfan 14,793
I'm not so sure, one of his favourite places is on the garage roof, there quite often birds land very close to him & he doesn't seem to mind. I don't think he's got the speed, inclination or know how to catch a mouse !
Denis12345 17
I was going to mention extortionate vet bills, catfan. Three things that are really important in our lives are the vet, dentist and funerals and all three are a big rip-off. With all of our pets we have had comprehensive pet insurance and two of our dogs have had claims which would total in excess of what we have ever paid out. Pet Plan has always been our choice because even if a pet gets a long term condition it is covered for life unlike many other pet insurance providers.
TBI 2,351
Many take insurance plans for all those three things, but it still doesn't alter what Michael says, a big rip-off! Opticians too!

Trevor S 2,003
A Pet’s Prayer If it be I grow frail and weak And pain should wake me from my sleep, Then you must do what must be done, For this last battle can’t be won. You will be sad…..I understand, Don’t let your grief then stay your hand. For this day, more than all the rest, Your love and friendship stand the test. We’ve had so many happy years, What is to come will hold no fears. You’d not want me to suffer……so, When the time comes, Please let me go. Take me where all my needs they’ll tend, But please stay with me until the end. And hold me firm and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you both will see, It is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its’ last has waved, From pain and suffering I’ve been saved. Do not grieve that it should be you Who must decide this thing to do. We’ve been so close, we three, these years, Don’t let your heart hold any tears. Smile, for we walked together for a little while.
MargieH 7,603
What a beautiful poem... and very true
sue B 48 1,226
#40 A beautiful poem I remember when we had to release our Great Dane Duke from his pain, the vet came to the house and I sat on the floor with his head on my knee. I was talking to him all the time and I'm shaw it helped. Well now I've thoroughly depressed every one I'll move on, that was fifteen years ago and I've now got my lovely but naughty Jack Russell.
loppylugs 8,429
That poem is hard to read, but it is very true. Last time was with my Black Lab five years ago. I doubt I will ever forget it, but letting cancer take its natural course would have been cruel just to selfishly have him for a few more painful days.
LizzieM 9,511
I pulled up at traffic lights on Gregory Boulevard this afternoon and glanced across at the car next to me to see a ferret hanging out of the open passenger window looking at me. I looked at the woman holding it and smiled at her. All I got back was a glare as if to say 'What YOU lookin' at?'
