tomlinson 879
Schools given the day off for, 'Empire Day' and if you were lucky enough to get a bowl of tinned fruit to eat, there was always a slice of bread and butter with it and told, 'Eat yer bread and butter'. Does anyone still do this?

Robbie 39
Unfortunately no boxes. Also collect GB stamps, cigarette cards and books. And I have two girls who apart from the books have no interest at all in my collections.
TBI 2,351
I've been a Lesney collector for the past twenty years or so, mint in box sort of stuff. Been gradually converting to cash to assist retirement fund as values have rocketed!

Robbie 39
TBI, I wish I had kept my boxes when I use to buy matchbox at the local newsagents back in the 60's for 1/6d. I have got a few in boxes of the M of Y. It's obvious you are a keen collector so you have probably got this book: Collecting Matchbox Diecast Toys The First Forty Years by Kevin McGimpsey and Stewart Orr. carni 10,094
I discovered Bread and Butter and Tinned Fruit in the 1960s. As a teenager I worked with and became good friends with an Aunt. I would go to Clifton for tea once a week, and that is where I first tried it. I love it especially with Delmonte Pears and Carnation Milk. Mmmmm that's breakfast sorted out.
