  1. Good Morning Everyone, Sorry that it has been a few days since my last message, but I thought that I would update you on how my Son faired yesterday with his meeting with the Whitaker's. The meeting went very well. We were extremely proud of our Son & how he explained what his skills were, as we were all shown round the facility. We were put at our ease right away & didn't have Butterflies at all. We hardly slept the night before, because we knew how important this meeting was for him & we didn't want to let him down in any way by being nervous. We were welcomed as though we ha

  2. All the money thrown in for at least the next year will go to the charity "When you wish upon a Star". The overarching wish is surely for the children with life-threatening illnesses who are supported by the charity to be brought a little bit of happiness to ease their pain and suffering. www.whenyouwishuponastar.org.uk/

  4. I was looking for my divorce papers this morning and chanced upon these documents. Note the use of the word/abbreviation Mstr (Master) in the post Office book - yer don't see that any more! Anyone else have interesting documents to show?

  5. Old style license endorsement ! This was my third & last ! Speeding on the Oxford bypass one Friday night hot footing it back from Portsmouth for a date back here ! Cost me £15 & a personal appearance at the magistrate's court in Woodstock to plead to keep my license, which I did ! Funnily enough my mate who took me there in his Ford Zephyr 6 had no tax, insurance or MOT & himself was banned from driving. (nice motor tho) ! US visitor's visa c1984, They used to let anybody in.

  6. carni. If you want to increase you Ped total, then do what the dagos do to get their donkeys moving. They hang a carrot on a stick in front of the animal and it is forever trying to reach it by moving forward. In your case a cream bun ahead of the handlebars would do the trick.

  7. Thanks, Michael and Ian. I'd definitely give top rating to the Clash, not just because their tunes and lyrics were peerless but because they had an important political message. I remember them temporarily stopping a gig in Derby because they wouldn't play while kids were being beaten up on the dance floor; they looked after people. Anyway, all the best. Al

  11. You can peddle that line for as long as you like mate, but Ayupmeducks has posted the real reasons. I've always maintained that there was a quiet sigh of relief amongst the more pragmatic and less hide-bound members of the Labour party when the pit closures programme started; because they knew deep in their hearts that it was inevitable, but that Labour could never do it. Hence, for all Bliar's rhetoric and waffle, not a single mine was ever re-opened, nor any attempt made to re-nationalise what remained of the industry. I fully acknowledge that the way the mines were closed was brutal; but

  13. My wife went to the hospital today for the first of her second set of four chemotherapy sessions. I'm pleased to say that everything went well and she came home with a smile on her face, despite feeling a little bloated with the stuff they'd put in her at the hospital. I was surprised how well she was but it could have been down to all the new medication she's taking...on top of all the other stuff..lol. However, later on this afternoon all her energy went and she spent a few hours sleeping on the sofa. She's been ok tonight though and has spent the evening watching TV from the sofa. Hopefully

  14. I didn't take this pic myself, it was taken by the person who's garage these bobcats were sitting on. This is in the development we live in during the winter, lots of wildlife roaming around the streets. Momma and her 3 kits.

  16. Just one more. My wife (seen here) and I visited Kensal Green a couple of times in the late 1990s to see the grave of the artist J. W. Waterhouse (maybe best known for The Lady of Shalott amongst other paintings often used these days on greetings cards). Once on a misty winter's day as seen in these photos, which was quite atmospheric, and once in bright sunshine.

  18. That's really good going Carni, the hills will have made you work harder so maybe fewer steps but more calories burned. I have an hour and 40 mins to add to my total last night so by the time I had got home my fitbit was reading 5103 plus 4500 for yoga so 9603 for me. Really enjoying my yoga classes. Something I had not thought about but which was mentioned two weeks ago is that after performing a series of moves you are not out of breath but you can certainly feel your heart rate has been raised, and I have noticed at the end of the class even though I have worked hard I really do feel rela

  20. To put it bluntly, if I remove a post or thread, I'm NOT going to explain why, if the person who's post doesn't know why, he or she doesn't need to be on the internet. As most know, me myself rarely moderates, you have to be very naughty for me to kick butt. So there!! LOL
