  1. Excellent!! They and many other working folk trying to keep our world going deserve our praise. As I naively aspire to some kind of balance I am thinking that there should be a co-ordinated boo/raspberry/thumbs down for those who spent a decade wantonly slashing the NHS budget for ideological reasons, closing hospitals, A&E units, maternity wards, and walk-in centres . Also for demeaning and belittling overworked junior doctors, scrapping the NHS bursaries meaning new NHS nurses have to rack up tens of thousands in unpayable student debts; reducing over 10,000 NHS hospital bed

  2. I’m wishing I could wake up from this bad dream, see my kids and grandkids again, go shopping without worry, make use of my bus pass, got to the local, go out for dinner, not have Coronavirus the main topic every time we turn the tv or radio on. Now they’re telling us it could go on for several months and then re-emerge, and then keep coming back in the future. To say I’m fed up is an understatement.

  3. Another view of the positive side of things...... We've had a spell of really nice weather the last few days and I realised that the blue skies were extremely blue and clear...and the reason is because there aren't any planes flying so there are no vapour trails. None of those wiggly white lines across the blue sky; it's all clear uninterrupted blue. That used to be very rare - or almost impossible.

  4. I've got mi jimjams on and a mug of Ovaltine in mi hand, the other one is clutching two chocky biscuits, so there is no chance of me seeing the ISS tonight. I don't want any of the neighbours, thinking 'Oh crikey there's the crazy woman star gazing in her jimmys again'. Perhaps I'll see it next time.

  5. No I won’t tonight BK, but hoping we have a regular Thursday 8pm community clap until this dreadful situation disappears.

  6. True jonab, but it's worth hanging on to a positive at this terrible time, the vast majority of those infected only get the 'royal' version. Thank God. This morning saw our first trip outside the perimeter of our house since last Saturday, a short trip to the pharmacy for meds and Bingham Lidl for some essentials. All calm and pretty quiet but great to see everyone observing distancing and folk really friendly and smiley in this adversity. Keep safe everyone.

  7. It seems that politicians, not only in UK but here as well take no notice of self distancing. They are too quick to give advice but don't take it themselves. No wonder this thing is spreading so fast.

  9. I read (the American CDC report), that it could move from pandemic to endemic, the same as flu, a while back and the virus may mutate and return time and again. Not a pleasant thought that like our flu jabs we can only develop a vaccine retrospectively which will offer little to no protection against any new strain. On a different note I'm amazed at the little things we buy and use almost without thinking. We need a dozen small sundries that cannot be described as essential, but life gets tedious without them. Normally it's a quick nip to B&Q or Screwfix etc. but not any more.

  10. I looked out to the West last evening. I saw a crescent Moon and a very bright star higher up which I took to be Venus.. which is not actually a star, but a planet. I've seen the ISS a few times and it tends to move quite quickly across the sky going from horizon to horizon in a few minutes at most. I did more gardening and pottering yesterday... taking advantage of the Sun. Divided an old perennial Phlox, sorted out a couple of Clematis by top dressing their roots and tying in early shoots to new supports. Didn't get as much done as I'd like though. Bit of a fretful

  11. Just had a wonderful feeling of togetherness. I hung out of the bedroom window and joined in as my community stood on their doorsteps and hung out of the bedroom windows clapping and cheering as someone played 'Don''t worry, cos every little things gonna be alright'. As i looked up in the sky there was a bright light overhead, I thought it was a satellite but probably a drone, taking pictures. I like to think it was our guardian angel looking out for us all. Keep Safe Every One.xx

  12. If it's clear on Sunday (29th), the space station will be visable from 20:42 to 20:47 traveling West to East. If you miss it it will back in about 90mins, having gone round the World!

  15. Thank you Stuart. I have just been outside and the sky is very clear, the ISS is still there glowing brightly, resembling a large star. It appears to have moved further away, but not much. I thought it would move across the sky a bit faster but perhaps the angle i am viewing it from makes it appear static. So long as it's not aliens watching us i am OK. Margie,I spoke to my daughter when it had quietened down and she was very emotional, she set me off as well. Tears of pride for the NHS.

  16. All our village seemed to come out to cheer, ring bells, honk car horns and clap this evening. It was such a great feeling to support the key workers, many of whom we know. It was very emotional and I had a little cry. There is so much good coming out of this .....

  17. Before the Corona virus came along, there were already many of us Nottstalgians who owed our being alive to the NHS. I am one of them. I have always been indebted to them and my appreciation and admiration is boundless. God Bless The NHS. I have just received a phone call to say the light in the sky is 'The International Space Station'. I prefer 'Guardian Angel xx

  18. I felt the same Carni, it was wonderful to hear neighbours up and down the road joining in, like you say, it gave a tremendous feeling of togetherness. There are several NHS workers living around here and our next door neighbour is a hospital consultant, I hope some of them were at home to hear the support they are getting from the country.

  19. I thought about the weather this morning, it's beautiful out at the moment and far too nice to be stuck indoors. Most of us I think have an outside area we can access without 'going out' but those who live in flats, especially tower blocks must be feeling a little claustrophobic by now. The temptation to break the rules will be quite strong I suspect. I'm concerned that if the quarantine continues into the Summer and we have a heatwave the domestic violence will increase along with divorces, especially now alcohol is an essential food item. I said to Dee "I'm bored shall we go

  20. I was hanging my sheets out on the line this morning (taking advantage of the beautiful sunshine to dry them) My next door neighbours were having family fun in their garden, they have three children, and all the family were playing on the three 'Space Hoppers' that we gave to them when our G/daughter grew out of them, she will be 20 in Dec, so the hoppers have lasted well. I heard a little voice calling Chris (ME) through the hedge, and I was presented with a lovely painted rainbow with the message 'Stay Safe'.that had been made especially for us cos we are old. Aaaaah! It is now

  22. Col, Loppy and Jill. Here is the best version of Richard Strauss's Four Last Songs. Just listen to that voice. My God! Strauss was an old man when he composed these four separate songs for the female voice - showing that he had lost none of his talent for beauty in music - what a way to leave this world.
