  2. I've got M1OAU on my old Jag -- probably worth more than the car !!
  3. Whilst Fender and Gibson do indeed make "Great" guitars, so do many other manufacturers, past and present. As a guitarist , we all want a certain sound and feel from our instruments, it's just a matter of opinion. "Tone" can come from the guitar, the fingers and the amplification/effects in the case of electric guitars. With accoustic guitars , the sound is more to do with the material/quality and the construction/design of the body.
  4. Very sad to hear "little filthy" has passed away -- the definitive Motorhead Drummer !!
  5. I didn't know Gibson manufactured the brand outside the US. -- where are they made ? I don't include Epiphone although I have a '96 Epi Les Paul and a 2008 Gibson Les Paul Supreme -- the difference of £2k in the prices I paid isn't really reflected in the sound/quality of the 2 guitars, but do like the 2 Eggles I have -- a '97 Berlin Pro and a '97 Iommi Atist sig.. SG.
  6. I remember John Lowry well --- I was the night fitter at Trent Bridge depot and he walked in at 11.30 one night --- I started at 11.00 and he caught me in the timekeeper's office reading the paper -- I hadn't even got my overalls on --- I thought I was in trouble , but funnily enough , all he did was remind me of the time and off he went. -- I never heard any more about it !!
  7. I knew a George Wilshaw when I worked at Trent Bridge Works -- we used to both race sidecars in the 70's . Don't know if it's the same chap , but sorry to hear if he has passed away
  8. I remember when Ted Williams had Regency garage on Station Rd in Carlton -- we all took our bikes there for MOT -- he always looked after us.
  9. I knew a guy who lived in B. Joyce - he had a AJS 350 --- same bike ? -- his name is Alistair Rennie -- ring any bells ?
  10. They were the fastest of all the 'deckers at the time
  11. George Cooper on Carlton Hill next to Elsie's chip shop --- he called everybody "John" and we all got the same short back and sides , no matter what style you asked for !
  12. I could think of a much stronger word !!
  13. "What would your mate say is the door to freedom ?"
  14. And they'll lose the extra bite of the cherry !! -- can't have that, can we ?
  15. Well, if it gets any colder, I'm gonna have to think about turning off the A/C

  17. The Western worlds system of writing from left to right obviously needs reversing --- so that us Lefties can pull instead of having to push !!
  18. Any chance of an up-to-date foto ?
  19. Terry lives in the same village as me --- I see him every other week when I go to clean his pool. He's not in the best of health after his stroke but he's still got a good sense of humour and Jenny looks after him like a baby -- Top bloke !
