  1. Sad to say football today is so boring to watch..........square passes...Back passes.......keeping possession..... Gone are the days of the long ball and taking on defenders with a mazy dribble...and a few crunching tackles or even a shoulder charge on the keeper......... Glad the Euro's are over.....sick of seeing so called fans dancing up and down shouting ''C'MON ENGLAND'' while kissing their mates...with a Pint in hand....... To say nowt of the so called experts on TV saying they are ''proud of them ''and are all hero's...Demi-Gods''

  2. The penalty shoot out should be at the beginning of the game, then we can all go home.

  3. Don't even bother with the penalties. Just have the coin toss and be done with it.

  4. A yellow card should be a red card. No substitutes. When the scores are equal at the end just declare a draw. Shoot outs are meaningless and are not relevant to how the game was played.

  6. Yesterday people kept asking me "who do you support" my reply was either of them or both of them or whoever wins. I'm not into football but have watched semi finals and of course last nights final. I suppose I wanted England to win ( patriotism) but then I saw the English " yobs" spitting on the Italian flag and it really got to me. It hurt me, disgusted me and never even in a million years thought that hate could go so far. From that moment on I heard of gate crashers and disturbances outside ground. My interest in England winning was slowly diminishing although my mind was still with England

  7. Some people, myself included, just aren't interested in sports. Doesn't inconvenience me. I dispensed with tv years ago. I suppose next year, it all happens again? Given that, at one time, children in schools were encouraged to see sports as non-competitive and, for all I know, perhaps they still are, perhaps there should have been a bar of chocolate for all the players last night and no trophy. It's the taking part that counts, children. We can't have anyone feeling negative!!

  8. My father failed the medical for the regular services in WW2 as he’d had serious bronchitis as a younger man so he served in the AFS throughout the war. He was based on Triumph road near the gasometer and I have photographs of a large group of firemen in front of their station and of another of the equipment and men (tenders, pumps etc) parading on the open ground alongside Triumph Road. He was injured a couple of times, thankfully not seriously the worse being when a bomb blast ‘bounced’ a heavy pump trailer onto his hand as he lay flat. He was left with a crooked finger and weak hand. I used

  10. I expected some trouble after the game and I was right. Why oh why does it have to end like this. Be happy for whoever wins.

  11. Football's ended with relief by most of those sensible minority now that it's all over. Over paid, over indulged ball kickers that couldn't do it at the test. Followed by over excitable followers and the usual drunken yobs behaving like demented school girls. Is this new England? Hopeless!

  15. I think your comment is hard to belive, no-one likes to lose but I think our team did well. If I remember not many reporters had a good word for England a lot thought we would be out of the comp near the start. So lets look on the bright side we got to the final. The young man who took one of the penalty's did not score but I bet next time he will make sure it goe's into the net. "HAY_HO" There is more to life than football.

  17. In the vernacular.... Give it some welly. Trying to stroke it just inside the post will not work with the athleticism of today's goalkeepers. Hit it so hard that if they get a hand to it it goes into the net with the ball.

  18. Ah!!. so you maybe don't need as much alcohol to lower the freezing point, but you need more solvents to dissolve bugs. Since bugs are mostly composed of proteins.. I'd suggest Concentrated Nitric Acid, which really 'goes for' proteins.. (I have the scars to prove it.) However. it will probably dissolve your screen wash system. and possibly you.... DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

  19. Don't hold back Oz.. what are you really trying to say? FWIW, I thought Saka was a poor choice of Sub as he messed up everything in play and missed a 'pen'. But I also think that Wonderboy Stirling is over rated. He persistently tries to much grandstanding and always wants to beat one last player..rather than laying off the ball to someone else. When he gets it right he is spectacular. but his success percentage rate is far too low.

  20. I as a bit disappointed to see England lose on penalties to Italy. Still we got further and closer than we have for decades and we do seem to have a team with some ability. Maybe we'll do something in the World Cup. I only like Tournaments. I can't be bothered with the whole league pantomime.
