  1. Yes there was most definitely Robert Hirst. He called himself Spence at that time because he loved The Spencer Davis Group. And he adored Sam and Dave. He wasn't in the best of health Davi'sW in 2013. He had Parkinson's Disease. He fought hard and ended up in a care home in Scalford near Melton Mowbray. He sang some Elvis to the residents and danced a bit of rock and roll with the staff too. He made them all very happy and himself too after he had battled with depression and anxiety on top of the stages of Parkinson's for the last 20 years. He very sadly passed away on January 30th 2021.

  2. As was said earlier, boy, girl or toaster DNA don't lie. They can call themselves whatever they like, they can 'identify' as they please but what they can't do is take away my right to make my own mind up. It may upset them but tough, they're upsetting me by demanding what I comply with their weird sense of reality

  3. It's about time the normal ones amongst us told these so called politically correct wannabes where to get off once and for all and revert to the proper English language that we were educated with. The do gooders of this world can't see the damage they have done to society with their screwed up ideas.

  5. Thanks for the Good Wishes, I'll pass them on. Highlight of the day was at 3pm. when the 'Portal' device (Xmas present!) on the TV lit up and my Daughter in Law had programmed a family meet up, son & wife,2 grandsons & wives, the 2 great grand children and then our daughter in Arnold joined in so we had 5 pictures on the screen for an hours chat. They closed the chat when the light started flashing again and our daughter & son in law down in the Isle of Wight came on for another 50 minutes chat, very thirsty time so good job I had a couple of bottles open.

  8. I've driven in that area several times since the layout changed and the bus lane is clearly marked, both by white paint in the road and big signs pointing out that it's buses only and monitored by cameras. I think a lot of people drive on autopilot without looking at road signs around them. The problem is compounded if you haven't been there for a while, and discover it's totally different to the way it was the last time you were there.

  10. Our’s is a Wahl. For Paul, I use a no 2 first, then a no 1 in some places, finishing off with just a straight shave on the top! I use a no 1 on his eyebrows. Takes between 5 and 10 minutes to do...

  11. PP, you can't go far wrong with a set of Wahl clippers from Argos. Good worker and not pricey.

  13. Thanks for the birthday wishes but please don't make me any older than what I am (78) until November when I will be 79 ( that comes after 78 doesn't it) The other day talking to someone I couldn't even remember how old I was..That's serious. Happy birthday Barbara, sorry it got mixed up.

  14. Don't think we'd be allowed to book for the jab. We have to have letters of recommendation, prescriptions and approval before we can get anything, then we go where we please ( tests, exams etc) so we have to wait for the doctors to ring us for our appointments. The health service is strict.

  15. I won't be booking untill I've had the letter. They tightened up a couple of weeks ago on the checks after non healthcare and underage people were booking through the Healthcare workers link which doesn't have age limits on it and doesn't ask for proof of eligibility. That's not the same link as posted on here a few times as that had the age limit built in. My 75 year old mate and his neighbour both had to show their letters a couple of weeks ago.

  16. As it happens.. only yesterday (Monday), I was running through the three Motown albums I bought recently on CD... as I described above about 10 days back. It seems the group many of us know as the Elgins ..with a 'hard' G..are actually supposed to be called the Eljins.. with a soft j. The name was briefly used by the group that became the Temptations. The Temps were originally called the Primes.. and were friends of Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson, who became a female version of the Primes.. called the Primettes.. and who invited a friend. Diane Ross.. to join them...

  19. Boris didn't do it. The NHS did..despite the blond clown. And yes, the EU messed up over acquiring the vaccine, but it doesn't follow that Brexit was a good move overall. Just sayin'.

  20. The office shelving is turning into a bit of a saga. I've taken the old ones down but now I'm told the walls look a bit grubby and needs painting, as does the ceiling. The curtains are old and won't match??? so will have to be replaced and am I sure my desk is really going to fit in with the new scheme? Whaaat??
