So sorry to hear of Ashley's passing. Very sad. I met him a couple of times, I think, the last time was at Bab's do at The White Hart. Ashley lived at RoT, and used The Manvers. Now reunited with his wife Asabelle Rip Ashley Piggy and Babs are aware, no details of funeral arrangements yet.

Yesterday I was told of the passing of nottstalgia member Ashley. I have no further details, maybe piggy and Babs can find out. I do know that Ashley Durose worked as a foreman for Nottingham City Council on council house repairs and maintenance, and as a result had chronic lung disease.

Hi Ashley I'm sure the Bonny Bill we all refer to was Billy Gilbert especially when we talk about blasting past the middle gates at Highfields, with no speed limit he was the best. I remember the other Bonny Bill with big black sideburns,I was glad to inherit his girfriend when they split, Sue Rayson, we were together for ages and I was very upset when she dumped me for some reason.Tony Calladine took Sues best friend out for a while , another Sue with long red hair. Mike Elson married Sue Rayson's brother's ex girlfriend (maybe Linda) I think I introduced them. Cheers Dick

Memories..I too started with a Garelli Monaco scooter, then a BSA A7, eventually buying a new Norton Commando. I used too hang out at the Hart, I rode a 250cc NSU at the time-tearing up the Boulevard. I am still a keen biker at 71, regular in Matlock on my Kawasaki ZZR1400 and also ride my 1990 ZZR1100 (recently restored). We had a bike club in the 60s based at the Ashley Methodist youth club called the 77.

Just tripped over this. Graham Knight was best man at my (previous!) wedding in 1978; so sad when he passed away not too long ago. I left Nottingham for NZ, January 1983. Imagine my surprise when I switched the radio on, the day I started work in NZ, to hear a familiar voice. However, 'Chris Ashley' wasn't the name he used in NZ. If I remember correctly, he was known as 'Barnsy' and shared a programme with 'Loosehead Len', who is still around in NZ as a sports journalist and under his real name of Phil Gifford. I'm not sure how long he stayed, but I'm sure I may have met him o

Hi denshaw, just a quick update, Terrance Ashley was known as " tash" as confirmed by himself recently. He has become a member, sent me a message, but not seen him on here since.
-
Hi Waddo, Terry Ashley here how the devil are you. By the way they used to call me Tash at school.

The last landlord I remember in the Reindeer was a guy called Ashley who was married to an air hostess. He was rather overfond of sampling the stock! I’ve not been in for many years. The only pub I frequent these days is the Old Coach House at Southwell which used to be the White Lion.

I was there 66-70 and remember most of those teachers. Was Terrance Ashley known as Titch? Did Steve Walters have an older brother called Trevor?
-
Hi Michael and welcome to the site, I was at the same school but it was later, it was Roland Green then. Most of the teachers were still there, and Jake had progressed to the cane!! . I am sure Denshaw will be able to give you more information when he See's the post, he has a better recollection about the school than me, that is until my memory gets jogged. I used to hang around with Terrance Ashley, he lived just off Wilford rd near Turner's the Chip shop, also Keith Brown, Steve Walters lived in the same area.

Such a heart rending poem Chulla, I love your poems and will miss them. I'm very sorry you say it will be your last. Don't let it be. I am sure I am not alone with that wish. Your poems do stir up memories and here are the thoughts it has stirred up for me. When my lovely Mam was alive, her favourite perfume was 'Alisha Ashley Musk Oil'. Not the cheaper rather bland one that is around today! After she died, and we had the heart rending task of sorting her belongings, there was an empty bottle on her dressing table, I could have thrown it away, but it was so much about Mam, tha

In response to Ashley re: the lone fighter and the bullet holes in the church; when my dad was a baby he was in his pram outside on Melton Street and he said that he was almost hit by a single plane offloading it's spare bullets so that would tie in with the church on Arkwright Street. He was born in December 1940 so it was probably spring/summer of 1941?

"Sorry" don't seem to remember a member called Ashley but welcome back anyway.
