OK Here goes. I'm 21 for the third time. Absolutely gorgeous (LOL) and very intelligent (LOL even more). Two grown up sons, five grand kids and always at flippin' work. I don't know who I'm a reincarnation of but I will be definitely coming back as a cat. Well fed, sleep all day and out all night having fun.4 points

Any win. We must win to erase that debacle last season. They must go out there with the attitude that were going to tear them apart limb by limb. None of this 'we must respect them' crap. Cloughie didn't give these negative vibes to his players. It was 'Get out there and WIN' Just win lads pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze.4 points

A lot of members don't give even basic details of their gender or age. It doens't hurt to let us all know who you are and a few basic details will not let the identity thieves knobble you. So why not tell us all a little more about yourslelves, please2 points

The truth is that i am, in a way, trying to get stuck in the UK. My 'stuck in' comment was only related to the mushrooms and to the fact that I am not able to make the early cider pressing in time. I have a lot of things planned for full time life in the UK, which is brilliant. Living in France has been a great experience but the UK is home, and so much better in many ways. I have had the best of both worlds for a while but living in the UK wins hands down.2 points

I'm into my early 50s. Born in Nottingham, raised in Hyson Green. Joined the army at 18, and thus left Nottingham and never lived there again. I live in Co Durham now, interesting in its own right but it is not the exciting and cosmopolitan city Nottingham is. Stayed with my parents frequently and still love the city. I do return frequently. I adore the city and all that it has.2 points

Do watch old comedy shows if I happen to fall upon them but don't look at the TV guide and to be honest I don't watch a lot of TV ....... .I listen to it but look at Nottstalgia on my iPad screen. My all time favourite is Porridge but it would never be the same without Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale.2 points

Had to go to the Station so missed the last 10 minutes on the telly but had to make do with Radio Nottm commentary. Couldn't believe how many police were down in that area, had to do a detour to get anywhere near the car park as they'd blocked Queens Road off from London Road. Plenty of overtime for the boys in blue because you can't trust those Derby fans!! Pity we couldn't take 3 points but lots of games to go.2 points

It's embarrassing to say but decimal dollies were young ladies that stood at the main entrance of the store dressed in hot pants long white kinky boots and a blue debenhams sash with debenhams emblazoned on it telling as you say little old ladies how to convert old money into decimal money it was great fun2 points

Can you all remember the Mods and Rockers era? I was a rocker, my first bike was a BSA C11G, a 250cc bike, I put drop handle bars on it and thought I was the bees knees. I remember rival rocker groups, like the 'aces' and the 'saints' - based in Clifton. Immitation black leather jacket on with the words 'Elvis is King' emblazed on the back in silver studs, a space type crash helmet, Wow! We would go chasing the mods on their Lambrettas and Vespas, festooned wirth mirrors. A trip to Skeg every weekend in summer or Matlock Bath (the only inland seaside resort I know), Eh they were the days1 point

Ayup foodies everywhere. Here in the northern hemisphere it is wild mushroom season. I am having "Shaggy Parasol" mushrooms for breakfast today, freshly picked from the pine wood across the road. Local groups usually go mushrooming at this time of year and welcome newcomers. They advertise in local newspapers and community notice boards. The council may also have ranger groups active. In Notts there will be groups operating in all of the forested arreas. So, if you have any desire to try wild muchrooms for yourself, simply join in with a local "Mushroom foray" and enjoy the fruits of your o1 point

The building there now hasn't been there all that long. In the 1860s the site looked like this. The "Fluck" building is where Debenhams now is, and the road to the side is Market Street (then called Sheep Lane and much narrower) This was built in the late 1860s for Griffin and Spalding and lasted till the 1920s And now...1 point

I joined a chosen few last Monday for a 'drinks reception' at Millennium Point. There were a few representatives from intu Victoria Centre and the clock was working (just about - the Orchestra motor was a bit intermittent). Got a message a couple of days ago to say there had been a loud 'motor noise' and that they had switched the clock off in fear of what might develop. Went this morning to investigate; trouble was that they had unplugged the lead, coiled it back and replaced the floor tile that covers the sockets. Not a problem per se but they couldn't find the 'special tools' to lift th1 point

Me who posted it, and I hadn't noticed the coincidence. I've had that piece lying around for a couple of weeks before I got round to posting it, and I could say I was waiting for the anniversary, but...... I left in 73, but a lot of those names you mention were there in my time. Chris Perry (who can still be occasionally seen in Nottm city centre and he doesn't appear to have aged in the last 40 years); Mike Byrne passed away unexpectedly many years ago; Smart was my house master in Fleming House, a really good bloke who also, I believe, passed away earlier than might have been expected; Nayl1 point

Just stumbled across this thread whilst randomly Googling 'Fairham Comp'. I went to Fairham between 1978 and 1983 so much of the above is well before my time but it's still brought back some memories. The likes of Chris Perry, Mike Byrne, Tac Naylor, Mr Smart and Mr Kisby were all there during my time. Stan Bullard was also there and used to give extra reading classes for kids who were falling behind a bit. Another few names to throw in to the mix who I'd always assumed had been there for some time - Henry Fielding (English teacher and Elliot House Master, a really top bloke), John Mills (Hi1 point

In the 19th century you could sell your wife at auction just outside what became Debenham's. Today, wives are one of the few things they don't sell.1 point

You're probably right there Cliff Ton. Again, from a personal point of view, it was useful after my retirement. Posting made the time fly by. Also, there are certain people here in whom I can confide and talk openly. This I find extremely comforting and stimulating. A rarity these days. I love it.1 point

I've mentioned it many times. I reckon it's largely through memory - or lack of. Somebody finds the forum, signs in, makes a few posts, and then forgets all about it. Maybe a few months / years later, they will remember it or accidentally stumble on it again. The number of people who join, and remain, and continue to makes posts, is very small. I also think alcohol might play a part. Some of those who have never posted probably signed in one night when they were surfing the net after coming home from the pub. They probably don't even remember what happened after that.1 point

I discovered one of the reasons the ladies withdrew from the dining table after a meal to the with-drawing room - later known as the drawing room - was not only so the men could smoke, play cards etc, but because in the course of the evening the men would need to relieve themselves, and to do this without disturbing their entertainment the chamber pot was brought out from a small cupboard and passed around under the table, it was then returned to its cupboard until the staff removed it when they had left the room.......Nice!1 point

Whilst doing family history research I came across this. A newspaper I don't remember ever seeing; the West Bridgford and Clifton Standard in 1958. A report on the newly-opened Fairham school, with a warning about luminous socks.1 point

The poetry of Bilbraborn on the whole is not forlorn Like that one posted up by Carni, her grandad made quite a barnie, Unlike writings done by Chulla, of romance they could not be fuller. Lines of youth by Michael Booth are not the sort of thing to sooth, As those transcribed by Hippo Girl, who went and gave the art a twirl. Offerings by one Dave N, they edify us now and then, Karlton lent artistic grace, (is she named Karlton for the place)? And to the pen these poems call us, as they do with poet Paulus, And as they do indeed to me, and call they do to Mick2me. So all these poems D1 point
