  1. Well done Monseiur ! And may I say, "More power to your elbow". I hope you have fair weather to allow you to continue your work of pleasure and joy. Cheers.
  2. This season under Steve Cooper has be a breath of fresh air. Every game has been a pleasure to watch . So whatever happens from now on this season I still class it as a great season. COYR FTID .
  3. I still don't know how you can say that the problem of the abuse of wealth is 'not so much now', when we are confronted daily with the effects in everything from homelessness, food banks, the working poor, obscene wealth both displayed and utilised by the likes of Russian Oligarchs, not just for their own pleasure, but to distort the property markets in this country...etc, etc. None of this was , or remains inevitable. It is all a result of political choices by UK Govt. Covid is a 'simple fact of life'. Disease in general is a 'simple fact of life'. Climate Change is a '
  4. Enjoy Red...........nothing finer as Lizzie says than live music...... Feel the room moving ...its a special pleasure....Makes you feel good being surrounded by your kind of music........... Some Guys have all the luck''
  5. Much thanks to Paulus for starting this Topic way back in 2011....since i joined 'Nottstalgia' in 2014 its given me many hours of pleasure in remembering and discussing the many 'Marsdens' and Farrands'' stores that i worked at in the 60s....also much thanks to Cliff Ton'' for the many Photo's............i intend to start taking 'Pictures' of the stores as they are today.......starting with Marsdens Andover road where i began in 1960.......hope you enjoy......
  6. I've being going to Scotland for many years both for business and pleasure. Chips used to be a staple of the diet and it wasn't until recent years that they started to serve decent food in hotels and restaurants. A crab salad in a restaurant in the fishing port of Cambeltown some years ago was made using tinned crab!
  7. Not having a tv, I wouldn't know but I support the wildlife in my garden: birds, foxes, hedgehogs, squirrels and visiting moggies. That costs a fair bit in food all year round but I'll wager I get more pleasure out of watching them enjoy it than they do in eating it. Therefore, my motivation in doing so is quite selfish, really.
  8. We have had issues here with battery fires. Seems like the technology needs a lot more work before it can ever become safely mainstream. I'm glad to have lived through the days of the gas powered engine. It has given me a lot of pleasure.
  9. CT thats twice in one posting you have reminded me of my age. I can recall the church on Trinity Square very clearly and I use to roam the fields where Bestwood Park Estate is now built, memories of a misspent youth. I feel sad for the kids of today that will not be able to experience the pleasure of all those acres of open country side.
  10. We went for our booster jab (left arm) and flu jab (right arm) today. When we were walking across the car park we were holding hands as we often do. One of the younger volunteer guides said: “Aw, it’s so lovely to see you holding hands”. We smiled sweetly of course but I felt a bit patronised with her thinking that older people were past that sort of thing! I suppose I might have thought that as well when I was in my twenties though… after our jabs we met with both our sons and some of their families and went for a 2 - 3 mile slow walk along the river at Ely. We had the pleasure of
  11. I have a Hyundai Elantra N line with a 1.6l turbo and 7 speed dual clutch the dual clutch has two clutch plates one shifts the even gears and the other shifts the odd gears it is a manual transmission but there is no clutch pedal it shifts electonically, love the car its a pleasure to drive. There is no torque converter and automatic transmission oil the gearbox holds about four pints of gearoil which you can easily change yourself.
  12. She has done exceptionally well and irrespective of her background should be looked on as a British success. We have painfully few successes in tennis and now we have a bright new talent all people can do is pull her apart. Talk about build people up just for the pleasure of pulling them down again.
  13. So many of those guys are still around and still entertaining people. I think they can be more relaxed as they have nothing to prove. Somewhere back up thread there's a big list of bands which played the 'Boat'. I saw a lot of them. Also some of them such as the Clockwork Toys, Carl's Fables and Sons and Lovers and Pete and Billy Cambell and the Mighty Sparrows were local. We had them at the 360 Club too. And then there were the likes of 'Tiny Davis Souls A Go Go', who IIRC were from Sheffield, or was that Mickey's Monkeys?.. and the Mike Stuart Span. I think we also had all
  14. What a shame that one of our treasures is so expensive .....it was part of being a Nottingham born and bred person......we took pride in showing visitors part of our heritage....... Grandma took me...as did my mother...days i'll never forget.....went with my mates from school.......took many girlfriends and children and Grandkids......it was just a special place like the 'Embankment' and 'Slab Square'' Thursday half day dates.. Wanna goo up Castle Duck ? Goo on then...... Fancy cup a Tea Duck? Goo on then....... Shall we stand where Arthur and Brenda s
  15. It's an interesting one. As far as I know most solid state stuff runs at about 20 volts, so that the mains is cut from 220v or thereabouts via a transformer. So as long as there is enough current, you'd imagine that dips in the voltage wouldn't make much difference, assuming voltage regulation is 'correct'. Valve kit of course uses big transformers and carries much higher internal voltages, but so long as trannies can avoid/minimise 'saturation'..it shouldn't be an issue. Also, though there's little doubt that the mains is often far from being a pure 50Hz AC.and carries all sorts
  16. For various reasons I would rule out any theory that blames the electrical supply and go with the above. It's the end of the day, all chores are done and it's relaxation time. A late listening session is I suspect rarely a spur of the moment thing. It's planned and anticipated so the listeners 'mood' is likely to be right for appreciating the music, plus the pleasure audiophiles gain from the ritual of operating high-end equipment.
  17. I definitely agree with your last paragraph, Jill. Inflicting pain on any living thing just for pleasure is always wrong, I believe
  18. Went to watch that other Nottm team on the other side of the Trent with my grandad in the 50s calling in at the sweet shop just outside the ground a lot the players were hanging around talking with everyone Wills, Wylie, Robey, Linton and Hately no security back then it was a pleasure going .

  20. Can you imagine if it was postponed or cancelled. You'd have half the population going into withdrawal symptons. Things have to be done and at the " right" time. By the way I'm not a football fan but happy for those who are. It'll bring a lot of pleasure to them.
  21. A very satisfying day today Finished the last part of the courtyard project. The rear courtyard took some doing - had to level 32 m2 and lay 1600 blocks, half of which arrived last Thursday. The other half had to be lifted and power washed. Looks great. It was a pleasure to return the whacker and have a clean up this afternoon. Enjoying a beer at the mo.
  22. Lovely bit of film..........our fair City a much nicer place back then.......the 'Square' was beautiful...needs putting back the way it was......... Loved seeing the contrasts between the 'Snobs' in red coats on horseback and the poor buggers coming home from the 'Bowels' of the earth....... At least most of us on here have memories of those far off happy days...when to my mind going into town was an absolute pleasure....
  23. Hockeymum9 welcome to the font of memories of Nottingham. Melbourne Road, I remember it well. Wide and tree lined it was always a pleasure walking to Beechdale and back each day. Being help up at the Babbington rail crossing with what seemed to be endless coal trucks. Melbourne park where many good times were spent. What is Melbourne Road like now? No doubt changed though, probably not for the better.
  24. Ditto to that Jill............hope Loppy's ok... BK........Ref..Syd and Babs...loving life such a pleasure having them......since letting em out can't keep them in....even want to go out all night.....Syd is the real cheeky one...goes on every neighbours garden......one lady neighbour asked me to have a word with him.....lol....
  25. Great store.........worked there when it was 'Debenhams'' and two more in the West Midlands...such a shame all gone now.............it really was like working at 'Grace Brothers'' Also worked the 'Big Coop'' again great atmosphere and people......used to love getting in the lift.......and Announcing ''3rd floor Ladies Underwear''.......including '' Liberty Bodices'' Took Fenella Fielding up the lift.......mentioned afore...but such a pleasure worth repeating...
