  1. At the last meet up, I was talking with Albert and he was telling me how he goes through his life in sections, trying to remember as much as he can in order in each section.... so I thought I'd give it a go a few nights ago when sleep was eluding me. I made my own rule that the memories wouldn't be counted if they were just photos I'd got. They had to be memories which had no photographic record. And they had to be MY memories, not events I'd been told about by my parents. I tried to remember things in chronological order (that helped) and found out that I had 15 spec

  5. A glorious 27 in Concarneau today, but the local brew cooled me. Too many steps, moules and crepes, and not enough steaks, but having a week in Northumberland next week, so I can catch up on red meat ! Oh, and decent bitter ! Some phenomenal ice creams though !

  6. I remember the Health Visitor coming to the house when I was very small, long before I started school at 4. In those days they wore very smart uniforms, coats and hats. She turned up this particular day and I was playing at nurses as I often did. Running around with a blue and white striped dress, a tiny apron and a pair of white knickers on my head to represent a nurse's cap! I collared her with my toy stethoscope and probably talked her to death. I remember her saying to mum "You'll be glad when she's gone to school!"

  9. Here's some of my preschool ones that are suitable for sharing on here.. Kneeling in my pram, looking forwards over the hood as mum pushed me up Woodthorpe Drive. She stopped to talk to a lady in a brown coat at the top of the hill. Sitting in a little 'walker seat' on wheels in our front porch. It had a little tray on the front for food. Running out of the door with no clothes on as mum was getting my little bath (tin) ready and getting just past the front gate. My brother ran after me and was cross with me for running off. Mum and I were visiting another lady and her

Grew up on Test cricket early 50s...even listening to the 'crackling' radio from matches 'down under' was absolutely gripped by it.........Tyson,Statham,Loader,Evans,Lock,Laker,,May,,Hutton,,Bailey,,Trueman,,Edrich,,Wardle,, and many more,,Test players. When one day games began ie John Player league,,took it for what it was a ''One day'' slog and a bit of fun,but nowadays its played all the time and very seriously......very popular i know, but not for me.,,there are no 'Stonewallers like Trevor Bailey or Ken Mackay the Aussie,,they could bat all day but not score many runs,,e

  12. I must have walked past this building countless times from being a child holding mams hand, walking from Huntingdon St bus station going to Vicarage St to visit my Grandparents and relations living around the area. After leaving school I did the same journey most mornings myself whilst working at Raywarp on Alfred St North. I have closed my eyes and tried to imagine the building, one so large, but can't for the life of me remember it. This makes me feel sad because, it makes me wonder how many more places and people have slipped from my mind. I do enjoy the pictures and it does take me back t

  14. Wonder which stretch of road that would be. As I’ve said before, the City Highways planners had tremendous foresight building the boulevards so wide, there’s been very little widening/Junction improvement necessary in the past 80 years.

A lot of 'on call' fitters lived on Woodborough road in that Victorian terrace just above the main building. Ian when you described the building you forgot 'oily'

  17. Streets around the centre of Quimper cordoned off this evening, as French president Macron is in town till tomorrow. At least it's quiet and no traffic past our hotel. No, he's not in the same one as I am. I bet he gets better service at the bar though ! Thats blown my evening walk, so it's after dinner in the bar with coffee and brandy. Not too much though as its an 8am start tomorrow !

  20. Nowt wrong with a dog named Jill. Actually, I know a cat named Dave...and one named Nigel...one named Craig...one called Charlie...one called Graham (he's grey!), one named Fred and one named Humphrey. They're all gorgeous! One of my earliest memories is waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the full moon, low in the sky, shining in through the bedroom window. I was frightened and started crying. I was sleeping in my cot in my parents' bedroom, so I would be very young. Clearly remember looking at this round, glowing object through the bars of the cot. Dad w

  21. My first memory pre school, running up the road with no shoes or socks on after my Brothers and Sister it was her first day at school and I was being left on my own. Being on my own in the front garden playing on a drum it was round my neck on string a woman and a little boy who was crying walked past, the woman came back yanked the drum from my neck saying that's my boys and walked off. There will be lots of happy memories but they are the two that always come to mind.

  33. I’ve been to Hucknall Aerodrome twice in my life. The second visit was Chulla’s ‘ham tea’ .......a day I shall forever remember as many of us gave the good man a lovely send-off. The only other time I went there was to do a parachute jump in 1972. I had a boyfriend at the time who was in the USASF (US Army Special Forces) and he did a lot of parachuting in his job. I watched him training in Germany a few times and thought I’d give it a go. One Saturday afternoon I drove with a girlfriend to Hucknall, took one look at the little plane, got very very cold feet, did a u-turn and never w

  37. Just watching the one day International from Trent Bridge and even though I've been here for 40+ years still want England to win. The ground looks quite strange with that weird white box thing at the Radcliffe Road end of the ground. Some interesting local views particularly of Green's windmill and the crowd banners around the ground are bringing back some memories such as The Old Reindeer at Edingley and supporters of Mansfield Town FC. Really sad to see adverts for Greene King IPA, alas no more large Nottingham breweries anymore. 86 for 0 after 11 overs and two recent close calls for B

  38. I'd find it more helpful if people could just post ONE photo each time (or just ONE music video) then wait for people to respond ( or just wait a few hours) before posting another one. I feel the site is being overwhelmed with photos, and when I've not been online for a day, there's just TOO MUCH to catch up on!! I wish things could go back to a more LEISURELY pace, as some of us don't sit at our computers all day... I used to really enjoy Nottstalgia but sometimes I just can't be bothered to scroll through everything I've missed.....

  42. I used to love playing Cricket and would go to test matches at TB. My Dad got the contract to repair the car park one time when I was on leave from the sea and I had run out of money (flash cars, flash clothes, too much booze and the other). I was hand spreading Tarmac when Gary Sobers rolled up in his Jag, he parked it and said nothing to me as he walked passed into the club house.
